I really liked this movie. First time in a long time I walked out of a movie theater and felt I got my money's worth.

Producers don't really do that. That's the directors job.

That really depends on how hands on a producer wants to be.

Nolan definitely has input into Man of Steel. Is he on set every day? Probably not. Does he keep an eye on production and inject his 2cents? I would guess yes.

for the people who don't get this. this is Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon Levitt in a scene from 1999's 10 Things I Hate About You. Which was Ledger's breakthrough role and featured Gordon-Levitt in his 3rd speaking role in a feature film.
