I think they wanted to avoid Detta to be honest. They could pop up in a sequel still. I think they didn't want to deal with shooting missing fingers like Rick's hand on TWD. Too much trouble. I wanted to see the lobstrosities though.

Trailer wasn't too bad allthough I feel the main dudes were put in the wrong roles..

HAvenet read the books in years..remember them being drawn out and boring after the first 3...

IT will probably kill it at the box office..this..not so much.

I watched the trailer. There were things I liked. Disappointed that it isn't a telling the book story on film but I'm willing to watch and see how it goes

Still can't believe they tried making a sequel that follows Roland with the horn instead of just retelling the original story.

Just reading a couple of reviews:

- generic feel with no depth
- good pace yet short given the source material
- too much focus on Jake and not Roland
- misses the story of Roland's quest over all other things

Disappointing to hear.

I am going to try and see this. I've read several reviews that were favorable assuming you don't expect anything from the books. I guess it's one of those deals where book fans will be pissed off.

I guess my problem is if you didnt read the books, why care about seeing it and then they rape the books to make it digestible to those who didnt, classic trap and it always fails.

Just saw it. Predictable but good action. Nice escape for an hour and a half which is about all I expect from a movie. Will leave book comparisons to others.

I saw it. It was an entertaining action movie. I have only read the first book, so I can't speak to the comparison of the rest of the series, but it was nothing like the first book.

It is a Wonderful entertaining movie that I saw last Sunday with a friend.
It is the 1st Stephen king feature movie I saw in a theater,.and not disappointed a Wonderful unforgettable movie start to the end.


Also I did use a live YouTube video for my movie review Of The Dark Tower which had more than a dozen comments.

Maybe tommorow Early Evening with me talking about The drawing of my 1st Name with flames or flaming letters including when exactly I drew this drawing.


Also I'm going to upload a live video with my predictions including W-L record for the 2017 Titans with a Titans flag as the video picture.
Instead of 10 days or less before the 2017 Nfl regular season I decided this week. Plus I'll be wearing a Titans tshirt because it is about the Tennessee Titans.

just got back from seeing this. it's probably been more than 20 years since I read the books (back when only 3 in the series had been put to print at that point)...

that said.. if you haven't read the books, then the story will likely seem a bit weird.. maybe in the same way Dune was weird if you hadn't read that book.

any comments about the story being light and misfocused, based on the source material is really spot on.

but generally speaking, i thought it was just ok. I went into it knowing it wasn't following canon and felt it was mildly entertaining.

if you really really want to see this in a theatre, then go for a matinee.. and don't pay full price. if you don't care, then absolutely wait to see it on tv.

this movie would have been much better had they just stuck to the story of the 1st book..

I've seen the covers of The Dark Tower books and wow if it was made in the 70s or 80s Clint Eastwood would have been perfect as the badass Gunslinger Roland because of a uncanny resemblance including Hair, plus if I recall right he is a primary inspiration for this badass valiant character.

I assume if this movie is successful domestically sony will capitalize with releasing the Movie The Dark Tower action figures, toy gunslinger guns, etc.
