The Defenders (Netflix)

Thought it sucked and was pretty much unnecessary. The best part was watching the small Punisher clip after the finale credits.

Disagree. But like I said, I'm biased. I've been reading Daredevil for close to 40 years and fell in love with the comic and Elektra when Frank Miller started drawing, then writing the comic around 1980. It's not even close, DD is by far my favorite Marvel character and has been for 35 years

I've watched half of it. It's good but not great.

Jessica Jones' act has gotten so old to me. Yeah we get it, you're an antihero who doesn't care about anything and you take every opportunity to let everyone know. I keep hoping she gets the crap beaten out of her.

I don't know how it ends yet but honestly if they are going to keep both Luke Cage and Iron Fist going, they need to combine them into one show and make them the Heroes for Hire storyline from the comics. I don't think either is really strong enough to have a show to themselves. JJ they can keep going even though I'm losing interest in her story too.

In the end I think DD and Punisher will be the only 2 I really think are awesome, and the other 3 are just supporting.

haven't started defenders yet, but i agree with almost all of this. definitely think DD and punisher are the two most intriguing characters and can support themselves.

and definitley want to see more of the punisher.

i liked JJ, but i like that kind of wit. i think from a character standpoint there's a lot there, but can see where it can become really predictable and flat if there's no outside influence. the loner anti hero will have a hard time standing on it's own ...but i did enjoy that 1st season of JJ.

iron fist was the weakest of the 4 by a wide margin.

i'll probably start defenders this weekend.

I think if they had cast a better actor it would be higher, because to me a lot of IF's problems get down to Finn Jones just isn't good enough to pull it off. I actually thought the story of IF was decent enough and the supporting cast is actually pretty good.

LC is the opposite to me. Mike Coulter is a great casting choice and pulls it off well. But the series was at times really boring and the supporting cast overall was pretty bad. Some of them couldn't act their way out of a paper bag. And people criticized IF's fighting, holy crap some of LC's fight scenes were cringeworthy; especially his big fight with Diamondback. I've seen YouTube creators film better fight scenes.

yeah, but i did like LC's story a lot better. agree on some of the fight scenes. and i'll have to disagree on the supporting cast for LC...they had some pretty heavy hitters in support roles...

IF to me felt like a story they had to tell just to make defenders. but you're right, the lead guy was awful...supporting cast was much better than it gets credit for. i liked the brother and sister in particular.

and i say this understanding that we're talking about super hero stories here, but even in a fantasy story line, the IF story just seems.....kinda ridiculous.

What's odd to me, and I have no idea the comic storylines, but DD was trained by Stick and he knows and has had interactions with The Hand; and IF's main enemy is The Hand. Stick comes back in The Defenders and knows who IF is (or at least the title) but DD has seemingly no idea who or what the IF is.

It makes sense that LC and JJ have no idea who he is but seems like DD might have at least heard of the legend or Stick mentioned the story at some point in the past.

And yeah I guess the IF story is weird but at this point I find it funny that everyone was scoffing at IF's backstory. Hmmm...let's see a blind martial arts expert that has no problem getting around, a virtually indestrucible super strengthed dude, and a PI with abnormal strength all think the weird guy with a glowing fist is crazy. And all this takes place in the same universe as all the other MCU movies and shows, so they've seen aliens attack their city and tons of other freaks.

lol..hence my disclaimer....in a world of unbelievable stuff...the IF story is just...more unbelievable...lol. and apparently (i'm not a comic guy but i enjoy the tv/movies), there are those that believe IF is a rip off of Arrow...and Batman...to a certain extent. billionaire son goes off to find himself and comes back...mystical defender of "fill in the blank".......

as for Stick and DD/IF...really doesn't surprise me..it's not like Stick was walking around having "tell alls" about his life and times as a trainer of assassins...

I can see the ripoff part; also he was seen as sort of a "white savior" character.

Finished this the other day. I thought it was ok. IMO they wasted too much time setting everything up. Not enough time of actual good stuff.

A bit disjointed. Cheap entertainment.

Just don't care for IF. just an petulant kid imo.

It was better than LC and IF and about the same level as JJ, but DD is better and I bet Punisher will be better too.

Really, it was the DD and Elektra season, with Stick playing a vital part for 6 episodes. Throw in the IF subplot, which really caused more confusion than really anything to the story and the under usage of LC and Jessica Jones(I like the character and Ritter), u kinda got a forced team-up when probably u should have just done an Elektra and the Hand mini-series. Yung stole the show as Elektra, Scott Glen(always awesome) and Charlie Cox with Weaver and the other members of the Hand could of carried the season without the other Defenders. They could have just thrown IF in for a couple episodes to open the door. Although, I enjoyed the interactions between the Defenders, the whole set-up with LC and JJ getting involved, seemed forced. But, I still dug it. Not as good as the 2 seasons of DD, but good enough for me to watch the whole season over a weekend and it had to compete against GoT, Rick&Morty and preseason NFL.

Watched the first episode last night. Good thing this wasn't a weekly series because the viewer drop between ep 1 and 2 would have most likely doomed the show. I know they needed to establish each character but it didn't feel fluid at all. I had a hard time staying awake.

I liked it better than everyone else here, judging from the comments. Say what you will, but the fight in Midland Circle in episode 3 was awesome.
