That game went about how I expected it to. I don't know why we can't play a decient game against LSU but Pearl's teams have struggled against them since he got here in 05. Our entire athletic department (save baseball - go figure) has been cursed against LSU almost.

They won, albeit ugly. Saturday is a very, very big game.

I loved that win last night. We barely tried at all the whole game and came out with a win. Goins looked much more competent than Josh Bone.

Would've liked us to go to the rim on every possession and put up 150 though, since it was that easy to score on them. Almost every three point shot made me cringe.

1. It's a win. Good enough.

Ugly game, ugly win. Sometimes that happens, but in the end a conference road win is all that matters.

It shouldn't surprise me by now, but I can't help but be amazed by the inability of one of our senior leaders to make a free throw or to refrain from fouling a 3-point shooter. The fact that JP Prince is doing that in the middle of his 5th year of college basketball says something about the player and his coach.

Not good, unless he takes 50 shots.

I would say collectively our perimeter defense is weak enough that he will be required to take 50 shots. So I think we are safe. There will be enough open looks for the other guards.

About what I have come to expect from this team. After soaring so high leading up to and culminating in the win against Kansas the plane has touched down and grounded us in reality.

How many more losses do you see us getting down the stretch Hat? This team will have a very early departure from the NCAA tournament IMO, Sweet Sixteen is a pipe dream. Any halfway competent coach knows the way to beat this team, go right at Chism and get him in foul trouble. There is so little margin for error with the current roster and they do not look polished, even the veterans.

Hey Hat, i was curious your take on the recent two week run the Bulls have been having in The Big East, Pure luck or do you think this is a team coming into their own?
Dominique Jones is really, really good. If Gilchrist gets healthy, that's a reasonably talented team.

If they lose less than 4 of the remaining regular season games, they've accomplished something.

Agree. They really need to take care of business and win tomorrow, beat Georgia, Arkansas and Miss State.

Then you see where the chips fall AT Vandy, S Carolina, Florida and Kentucky and home against Kentucky. Tough slate ahead.

We finish third in the division IMO, as much as it pains me to say it Vanderbilt is the second best team, I just don't see us beating them in that awful set up they call a gym.

Good stuff.

On an unrelated note, what the hell happened to my Thundering Herd? Inexperience seems to be the only viable explanation at this point.... it's just disappointing.

They would allow it, I'm just not sure 10 teams will deserve a bid come March.

I thought there was a rule forbidding teams from the same conference being able to meet before the regional finals, which would limit the number of teams to 8.

The Big East matched that record total, BTW, twice, in '06 and '08.

That rule was put in place before conference expansion. It doesn't limit the number of teams from a league. They would simply have to be in a position where breaking that rule is a possibility.

On a positive note, the road game meant that Tennessee fans weren't subjected to Gary the high-fiving manatee.

I believe there is an "if-then" clause on that rule, or it is simply an unwritten one.

I think you're right. Marshall is a young team still learning what has to be done to win close games.

You mean the Knoxville Zoo didn't send Einstein the Parrot down to Baton Rouge to "entertain" the LSU fans?

Slap some spandex on the walrus and it would fit right in with our dance team.

Or make the rest of the dance team do their routines soaking wet and naked. Wait, that would work a lot better if we were Memphis.
