...are a perfect way to stick with the theme of our season. Pitiful defense where our two "best" defenders give up the lane to a point guard several inches shorter than them, only to be followed by another horrific attempt at a last second shot.

The defensive lapse is understandable because we clearly do not play much defense. But that's at least the 5th time we've had plenty of time to get a decent shot and every single time I think the person who caught the inbounds pass just ran up the floor and threw up junk while the other 4 guys just stand around and watch.

The season was by no means a failure because we've got potentially a really good team next year if they listen to their coach. However, I can't say that I'm sad to see it end after watching the same thing happen over and over again when the game is on the line.

if you want to point fingers, point them at chism. this guy is the calling card of UT basketball this season. 11 damn points and 4-14 shooting (3-9 from 3) on a team that couldn't match up with him. his lack of will to take it inside and bang with their big men is the reason we lost this game, and also the reason we lost the SECC game.

tyler smith played a hell of a game minus one or two dumb mistakes, hopson took over at that one point in the game, and negedu was a freakin beast on the inside, yet BP would rather play brian williams, the pillsbury doughboy of bigmen.

this game was sickening to watch, not because we lost, but because everyone who watched KNEW we were gonna blow it at the end because we can't make big time stops or big time shots. football can't get here fast enough.

agreed. anyone who even jokes about Bruce leaving Knoxville is off their rocker. at least we have a basketball team now and they just played in their 4th straight NCAA. with that said, it's football time in Tennessee.

For all we know Pearl gave Chism the green light to shoot Lofton type shots behind the line. It just doesn't make any sense.

No one in UT orange has confidence in a tight game. Not the fans, not the coaches, and most importantly, not the players. That's the problem.

It's a joke that this collection of below-average shooters decided to jack up 30+ three pointers today. That's just ridiculous.

If the only positive about this season is next season, then it stands to reason that this one was a complete and total failure. Given the results and the expectations before the season, I think it was. Underachieving the entire way. That isn't enough to fire Bruce though.

Full timeout and that's the shot we choose to take??

is there a reason on OK state's last possession why we didnt move to a zone? or at least had Williams not guarding a man on the perimeter? If he was there I think that play would have been completely different, and we may be talking about playing Pitt right now

Man I am going to play the other side of this argument and say that I do believe the rules say if a player has possession of the ball and another player runs into him, regardless of the fact he was trying to run through a dummy screen he hit tyler so hard that he fell out of bounds. How is that not a foul????
Granted I dont think that is what cost us the game but it should have been called.

That is the first thing I said when he came down the court at least maybe a box and 1 and guard the guy who hit like 6 (UNCONTESTED) 3's on us! Then Eason would have had to dish the ball or try a shot with a hand in his face.

So did you watch the basketball season or just Friday's game? Because Chism is the only guy all season you could say gave a damn. He's hit more big shots and kept us in a many of games (even with the lack of respect from media, officials, and apparently fans all season).

Hopson took over for a couple of minutes but he was 1-6 from 3pt range and 3-9 overall (I think he was like 0-6 total to start). And Negedu did play great...but do you want to trust him for the entire game when he only played miniscule minutes all season. Brian Williams had played great for us down the stretch and you can just add him to the list of players who didn't bring their A game to Dayton.

This team needs a leader...there's not one. Tyler Smith is a hell of a player but he isn't, nor seems to want to be, the guy who shoulders the entire team. There's nothing wrong with that, but we need that guy. I see a little bit of that in Hopson sometimes and maybe he'll bring it out next season.
