On June 27 in Baseball History...
  • 1959 - With the players voting, Henry Aaron gets a unanimous vote for the All-Star Game, making him the first player so selected.

  • 1973 - David Clyde, 18 and fresh out of Houston's Westchester high school, makes his eagerly awaited debut with Texas before 35,698, the largest Rangers' crowd of the year. Clyde, the number one pick in the draft, walks the first two Twins he faces, then gets Bob Darwin, George Mitterwald, and Joe Lis on swinging third strikes. Clyde goes five innings and gives up only one hit a two-run home run walks seven and strikes out eight. He is the winner, 4-3.

  • 1977 - Willie McCovey smashes two home runs in the sixth inning to pace a 14-9 Giants victory over the Reds. McCovey becomes the first player to twice hit two home runs in one inning, having also done it on April 12, 1973. He also becomes the all-time N.L. leader with 17 career grand slams.

  • 1980 - Jerry Reuss pitches an 8-0 no-hitter for the Dodgers against the Giants at Candlestick Park. Reuss, who strikes out only two but doesn't walk a batter, is deprived of a perfect game when shortstop Bill Russell throws wildly to first base on Jack Clark's easy grounder in the first inning.

  • 1986 - Give him an 'A' for effort. San Francisco second baseman Robby Thompson is caught stealing four times in the Giants' 7-6, 12-inning win over the Reds, establishing a new major league record. Thompson was thrown out by Bo Diaz in the fourth, sixth, ninth and 11th innings.

Laughing at individuals who say you can't be a dominant pitcher in Majors with 2 pitches anybody ever heard of Spencer Strider?

Some are saying Chase can't start with only 2 pitches,Spencer Strider says hello👍👍👍
Chase does have a filthy fastball and slider but if he were to develop a consistent change up I think that would elevate him from being a first round pick to being the number 1 pick in the draft next year. He will still be a first rounder next year either way though.

Starting pitchers gphave bad stretches they all do even in Majors,he will make millions upon millions in baseball. Some seem to forget Dollander didn't set the world on fire this year either and still projected a top 15 to 20 pick

If I’m looking at it from Burns’ point of view I might be a little upset also. Dollander wasn’t doing any better than me but you want to take my spot and keep him in the rotation? It worked for the team’s success but you pointed me out as the weak link and moved me to the pen. If I had to guess that’s probably how he feels. About the only way we would have kept him was if we won it all.

It’s not really mind boggling as Wes calls it. Chase was good down the stretch, but it’s been made apparent a while back that he wasn’t happy being a reliever. We all kinda saw this coming.
It just amazes me how fan bases love them when their here and bash the hell out of them when they leave early for another school.Chase is doing what he thinks is best for his future so be it and I would too.

When I think of Burn's situation, I think when this happened to John Smoltz.

Bash? I haven't seen any bashing of Burns's decision yet. There might be something out there but, if so, feel free to post it here to change my mind. I'm sure there's more wishing him well in whatever & where ever he goes to play then negative.

Bashing may be harsh but the quotes "I will not wish him well and he isn't a VFL blah blah blah. Other players are leaving and not a peep about them kind though.
