Totally opposite from 2022. #1 overall seed guaranteed and still went out and won SEC tournament Championship after running away with regular season.I think it’s pretty clear that Tony and Frank did not want to disrupt the normal weekend rotation. We’ve thrown like 4 guys that are strictly weekday pitchers.
Would it be possible to start this tourney on a Wednesday? That would make this game on Thursday and you can set your staff for regionals .. otherwise you get teams pitching midweek rosters.I think it’s pretty clear that Tony and Frank did not want to disrupt the normal weekend rotation. Yeah that was a little different imo. We were having a historic season and the pitching was top notch from top to bottom. Yeah we finished 3rd in ERA but the pitching on this team isn’t even comparable to that 2022 team. We had several dudes who could go 6 or 7 innings of high quality pitching. We still have great pitching, just not a historically great staff like that 2022 squad.Totally opposite from 2022. #1 overall seed guaranteed and still went out and won SEC tournament Championship after running away with regular season.
That’s my point. This game is mid-week so it’s normal. But if we play our normal starters tomorrow you’re out of sequence for the regionals. Also, that 2022 SECT had the rain so we were fortunate enough to get to play our first game on Thursday like a semi-regular SEC series. Playing on a Wednesday really throws a lot of these guys off their routine imo. We usually played midweek games on Tuesday. Baseball players are creatures of habit and any little thing can cause a dumpster fire.
Could get a regional that starts on Thursday though which wouldn’t affect the sequence if we go regular tomorrow. Maybe he uses Stamos as a full starter tomorrow instead of an opener and bumps everyone else back a dayThat’s my point. This game is mid-week so it’s normal. If you phone it in and rest the starters, you risk having a let down during the regionals. I’d hate to have to decide.
Tony isn’t going to phone it in. This game was always going to have the midweek guys try to win it and if we lost then so what. The regular guys will be going tomorrow. He’s not tryin to have our weekend guys go an entire 2 weeks between game action. That’s my point. This game is mid-week so it’s normal.
