I knew one guy on anabolic steroids in the academy and he didn’t make it through due to his issues and I fully believe you are right on this. But I never saw that kind of continued anger out on the streets from officers

I saw Elkhart as a special case. I've known other depts that function well when leadership is intact and they do right. Elkhart has problems from the top down. Including the mayor at that time.
One of the police officers was fired after 6 months. His offense, he spray painted a curb yellow so he could write his ex gf a ticket. I never laughed so hard when my sister told me that.

I have heard this from a few of those police in the article. They needed to compete with coke, pcp and meth heads who are hopped up.
One of those officers mentioned in the article I knew for 10 years. I had talked with him on numerous occasions about his usage and the resulting problems. I liked his wife, he lost her along with spousal abuse. In our final talk, I held him directly responsible for his actions. He came at me and I had no questions as to his intent to harm me at the time, he was on leave pending an investigation. I knocked over his table with his gun and ran. I haven't spoken to him since. He has killed a man over a misdemeanor drug charge since.
Some people just need to walk away from the profession.

They test for steroids at my daughters high school.... looks like it wouldn’t be that hard to get it done for a police force..... funny story..... they randomly tested my daughter ( girls basketball team) 4-5 times while some hoe missing most of the star athletes on the football team....I wonder how that happens?

Velo, my FIL took a bad fall from a ladder to concrete a few years ago and shattered both kneecaps. He is always in pain...except when taking prednisone.

His doctor will only let him take them maybe 1 week a year because he said they greatly reduce bone density. Just a heads up, have never researched it myself. Sucks for my FIL...and the guy is a saint.

The 1 that got quickly banned was androstenedione. It was a precursor to a mild anabolic, so while it wasnt illegal, what it was immediate synthesized into by your body was illegal...that didnt last long. Pro sports and the law put an end to it quickly. There is a never ending battle between supplement makers and the FDA/FEDS/testing bodies....companies have scientists constantly looking for new compounds that are mild steroids in function...rush them to market and make as much loot as they can before they are deemed PEDs and banned...round and round they go....then there is the BILLION $ market for crap like that annoying Frank Thomas crap Nugenix or whatever...the closest thing to actually BEING A REAL PED that can be squeaked in under the laws...and places like GNC cant stock enough of them.

The reality is this: most men arent genetically muscle bound...but they want to be. We are taught from birth that is best, and women are attracted to manly men (though 99% arent looking for hulks) As long as there is a huge demand for muscle, there will be a huge market for people looking for a shortcut. Boosting male hormones are the only REAL shortcut, and even still a man has to work out and eat right...and there IS a price to pay. Steroids shorten your life. Bad for your heart, kidneys, liver etc...and can make you psychotic very quickly. Just like everything else in life, there is a price to pay. No way we should ever have Cops running around on the juice though. Time bombs. Tick.tock.
