The Elephants in the room

I hear you, but I don't know if HW/coaches knew to this extent.

Later complications proved to be more than just a "me-first" attitude that she'd shown at UNC.

DD claimed that she'd made a mistake by reneging on her informal TN commitment after Pat got sick. TN is where she'd always wanted to be; she was home.

Then injuries. Then Te'a. Then losses. Then repercussions. Then blame. Then intentions. Then fighting. Then responsibility.

It's just that there was a chance to build a positive legacy for herself at TN after two terrible years, and DD bailed.

Maybe it was for the best.

In the long run it was... but she should have never come back.

She would have to still be drafted in order to enter I believe, she can't just sign with a team back in the days (when the league first started) they had open tryouts to fill roster spaces but that isn't the case anymore so like Coach Jumper said she'd have to wait it out and hope that the team she wants to play for pulls an LA or Phoenix (tanks) so she can go to them

Remember how LA was so poor even with a Lisa Leslie and a few other star players which landed them Candace Parker and how Taurasi sat out the beginning of the season but played in the Olympics and then returned and played 1 or 2 games and then somehow had a teeth ache and couldn't play anymore they only won 1 or 2 more games which gave them the pick to Griner which is one of the reasons the league decided to go to a lottery system

Actually Lisa was pregnant and Taj McWilliams and a bunch of others were "poor"
The Sparks have never been poor with Lisa Leslie at the helm. Lol:)

However you look at this situation, DD is still a graduate alumni
and will be listed with the great players that has played for our program.
University of Tennessee will follow whatever legacy she muster. She also accomplished following in her mother's footsteps academically . You must realize that everything concerning her basketball career is well planned, and carefully orchestrated,BY not only her but also the people around her whom are also professional athletes, and her counsel. Shrewd as it may seem, she made the best move for herself. She may have stepped on a lot of people towards where she's heading but that's life. I wish her the best , I'm sure it's waiting for her.

Dang, I hated clicking like on that.

LA never tanked. Lisa Leslie missed the 2007 season with a pregnancy and the team other than her was terrible. That's how they were able to get Candace Parker. And the league already had the lottery system before Phoenix tanked in 2012. They had the second worst record and won.

If you say so,

Tameka Johnson, Chamique Holdsclaw, Taj-McWilliams-Fraklin, Murriel Paige, Mawadi Mebeka is more than enough to Win 10 games, the league made it so that Parker ended up in LA which is why she decided to leave early, had they not got the top pick she would've returned her final season at Tennessee

The Mystics had the best odds to win the lottery and yet they get the 4th pick of the big 3 draft (EDD, Griner, Diggins), the league had to reward Tulsa (for their relocation) and Chicago (newest location) with future stars and Taurasi threatened to sit out the year and they caved in and gave into her wishes and awared her with the chance to add Griner (which Phoenix did)

Look at the history of the league (been watching it since its inauguration) and the league has always catered to its stars (Fowles to Minny, Delle Don to the Mystics, I can go on and on).

Sorry true. The league figures if each team has a star(s) that represents that that part of the country = more local fans in attendance, which should improve a team's identity with that community. Look for more of that to come in the next few seasons. Bottom line is that the league needs to survive. It's about that money.

I'm not going to. If her career was so well orchestrated she should not have made a big gushy announcement that she was coming back then backed out. She sucks.

Trying to understand it from her point of view, not anyone elses. It's her career, not ours. It's her life, not ours

So true!!!! Every year we have some sort of off season drama. This team needs their own reality show. Lol. However on a serious note, I'm still a Tennessee Lady Vol fan, regardless of who's wearing the jersey. We will survive this, with dedication and support, the Lady Vols are and always will be our TEAM!

Also IMO: I truly believe this will be a real chance for Jamie Nared to really move into her talent. IJS

Agree on all of it. I think team chemistry just improved by about 1,000 % and Jaime Nared will light it up, as will Mercedes. Hoping KD will break out...Very anxious to see who fills Jolette's spot.

I believe it too, I just hope Holly commits to only playing her at the 4 when she goes small ball. Green, KK, and Harris should exclusively man (woman) the 4 spot with Kortney, Rennia, or Nared only playing there if we go small ball or there is an injury to one of the ones mentioned.

I think playing Nared at the 4 limits the damage she can really do and we haven't been able to do that damage because she is playing outside of her position. (Kinda like when Stricklen was forced to play Point because we didn't have a solid PG, imagine how great she would've been had she been able to exclusively play the 2/3)

I'm just big on keeping my word. That said...it's for the best. Just wish it had happened three months ago.

So do I. No one would have faulted her for jumping to the WNBA. Sticking around to play with Te'a was unwise on her part. I have a hard time criticizing her for her flowery "I'm Staying!!!!!" Instagram post. After all, she couldn't come out and say, "I'm staying at Tennessee for one more year because I really want to play with my BFF and I was originally planning on leaving after this season, but then Te'a got hurt. Since I'm rich and don't need that peasant WNBA salary, I can afford to stay in college one more year."

This will also be an interesting year for Jaime because she got an awful lot of easy looks when other teams best defenders were keyed in on Diamond. She will be the go to perimeter threat, especially on a team lacking outside shooting. She'll need to be prepared to ball against defenses that won't lose track of her on the floor.

I think the post grad courses DD was interested in were not being offered by TN. Hence, she was not registering this upcoming semester. Possible???

No, not possible. It would mean that she was in the school for 3 years and she just found out that they don't offer her preferred post grad course.
As said in a previous post, Diamond lost all interest in playing for the LV's this year when Cooper left.

I agree with you Amb, but I don't know why she had to post anything on Instagram either way. What is it about this generation that they feel required to rush to social media every time they pass gas? The world doesn't need to know everything they do and every thought they possess.

Hopefully, now that "LV Survivor" has been canceled, JN can help lead the team through hard work and respect without being called names, shunned, and being physically assaulted.
