So back to the garden/orchard..................why not some black raspberry bushes? My Meemaw made the best black raspberry jelly with the pickings from her garden.
Birds. Birds, birds, birds, birds, birds.

We may still just plant them as a border and not worry about it, including the purple poop on the cars.

Oh, we’re gonna pick your brains; no fear! I’m going to watch those videos you posted (#44-47.) I meant to watch them at the time, but got distracted.

I’m one of those who learn by reading (last child was a home birth, because hey, I read about how to do it), but for gardening, videos have been a Godsend.

Those are very simple and informative. I have been trying to learn all I can about gardening.

Well, damn. One of the seed companies just sent an email with a code for free shipping through tomorrow night. Now I have to look at seeds again. 1612623716421.gif

Christianbook.com does that to me often.
Do you still grow a lot of culinary herbs? I’m going to need to pick brains on those at some point.

Right now I’m trying to find French tarragon seeds.

I've got some Greek oregano, cilantro and sweet Basil right now. I'm thinking about a few others and some super hots. I failed miserably on the super hots before and gave up, but I want to try again. I really want to come up with a BBQ sauce recipe using dragons breath, douglah, scorpion or reaper. They say they have great flavor and obviously hot, so I think it would be cool.

Yikes, you’re brave! Sounds good though.

I’m growing (well, will grow) most of the herbs in containers. This year I’ll using unglazed clay pots, because the monsoons last June drowned everything.

It still blows my mind how early your growing season starts down your way.

This is GREAT.

They have way more space to work with, but it’s the same idea as in the Charles Dowding vids (and many others, of course.)

We built flower beds at our previous house using the lasagna method. We did slide out the existing grass first (not all the roots), and then a layer of cardboard, the turf we removed (upside down), another layer of cardboard, compost, straw instead of wood chips, more compost, and more straw. We did this in February and planted in May. It was the lushest garden I’ve ever had.

No digging! No digging! whew

February is a great time to start this if you’re in Zone 7 or so.

I don't see it as brave, it's not like I'm going to make it super hot, just hoping it has a distinct flavor and some heat.

In my mind I think using a quality raw honey, fresh garlic, kaffir lime leaf, pink peppercorn maybe some grand Mariner and or blackberry brandy etc. and if the pepper has a good deep flavor and heat.....just sounds good like a good start to a really tasty BBQ sauce. IDK, but I wanna!
