Hypothetical Question:
The fate of the planet depends on a football game. Aliens have invaded and challenged us to a contest. If we lose, the world ends -- armageddon. If we win, the aliens will peacefully exit.

You are tasked with assembling our team. Two rules: (1) The team can only have college football players, but (2) They can come from any historical period (assume we have the technology to do that).

Who do you pick as your QB?

P.S. My pick is Michael Vick '99-'00. I had this discussion with several friends. Most thought my pick was defensible, but none agreed. And all had different picks.

Hmm, well, my first thought was to pick Tim Tebow.

But, I thought about it. And so my pick is........Tommie Frazier. Yea. Tommy Frazier. Best scrambling QB in college football history. Maybe the best CFB QB of all time. But I can see Mike Vick as well.

On a serious note, its hard to nail down just one QB. If you go by stats you have to mention guys like Danny Wuerffel, who has college footballs all-time greatest completion %. Maybe throw in Vick and Vince Young.

You could also go with the guy that the nations quarterback trophy is named after, and thats davey O'Brien. The guy ran back kick returns as well as rushing for damn near 1000 yards and throwing 20 something TD's in the 1930's.

However, I probably have to lay my chips down on Tommy Frazier as well.

Do we have film on their defensive play,how they play the game based on other intergalactic contests? So as to judge their speed, strengths, ability and defensive scheme. I think that this would be a determining factor as to who my pick would be.

I agree with a lot of these. I love your secondary. I would go a different direction with RB. I would go with Bo Jackson and Barry Sanders. Having running backs with very different styles will surely confuse the aliens.

Unfortunately, no film on the aliens. NASA and the NSA coordinated a plan to gather film...but failed miserably. All we can do is speculate.

I cheated a little. Robert Gallery played tackle in college but I listed him as a guard because the Raiders moved him there. I moved Eric Berry to safety but he could play any position in the secondary. Punter was the only one I didn't have an answer. With that team, I don't think you'd need a punter anyways. Anyways... some of the positions I could have gone a few different ways. Runningback and defensive tackle were probably the hardest to choose. Darren McFadden and Larry Johnson were tempting. It was also tough choosing between Glenn Dorsey, John Henderson, Reggie White and Bruce Smith. Anyways... that's my list. If were only choosing one player it would be Vince Young.
