I'm with PapVol, suspending Meyer is the only thing he did right for the last month. He never should have thrown the gauntlet down on that rule in the first place. So he did what he had to do, but only b/c he screwed up to put himself in that spot in the first place.
....but he is. First he creates this new weird rule, seemingly because of Kiffin but he has a bigger plan and the perfect time to execute, then he get's Urban to break it almost instantly. Now people are going to think he has no favoritism towards Florida. Genius I tell you. Please never use Mike Slive and genius in the same sentence.
Unless I missed it he didn't suspend. CUM was just fined. I haven't quite made up my mind on this one. Obviously the rule is ridiculous. However, CUM isn't stupid. He either did this to flex his muscles with Slive or he wanted to start the ball rolling. I think it is the latter. If you fine CUM for a first time offense then you obviously must suspend CLK for the next.
Slime left an out for himself. There is a clause that says that the amount of the fine and/or the length of the suspension is up to him alone. We all know that 11 of the coaches in the SEC will be fined, and only 1 will be suspended. The idea of 'genius' (ie. his doppleganger lookalike Einstein) is tongue in cheek. He did something, but still a far cry from what he told Lane in Reprimand #2:
". . . The next time you, or a member of your staff, make public comments of this nature, you will be suspended from all coaching duties for one or more games, and the institution may be subjected to a substantial fine. "
