1. Always nice to come out and get a win after you basically lost a game earlier in the year you had no business losing. Good all around team performance.

2. After the start of the halves, the team defense was excellent. They did a really good job stopping Ware in the second half.

3. That was Golden's best game in about a month. Coach Martin made a great call there.

4. However, Skylar played horrible. He constantly was burned on D, and it was bad. Pretty sure his start was a one game thing.

5. The offense was better. Better movement, and we didn't panic when UGA went into a zone. They moved the ball around and got better shots.

6. However, this team needs to understand the double teaming of the posts will happen all season. That means we need better off ball action and better spot up opportunities for shots.

7. Jordan McRae played his best game as a Vol. A complete performance by him. That's a great sign.

8. Only ten turnovers. Much better job protecting the ball. Amazing what happens when you don't have silly, stupid turnovers.

9. Good job, nice performance all around today. Need to beat USClite Wednesday and get a win streak going.

I agree, but even though Skylar played horribly, I would like to see that starting lineup again. Even if Golden comes in at the 18:00 minute mark. Just seemed like he "got" it tonight coming off the bench. Like the announcers said, doesn't matter who starts, just who gets the most minutes.

Either way, Golden played great tonight.

Golden led with 16 pts, Maymon 15, and Mcrae 14. How many pts. did Stokes have? How did he do today overall?:hi:

Stokes did a good job, didn't get a lot of touches because they double teamed the posts every play

I wonder if we had been playing anyone other than UGA or USCjr would Martin have started McBee?

McRae sounds like Dennis Rodman in the postgame interview.

We came out flat tonight especially at the start of both halves. Couldn't afford to lose that one.

Now we need to take care of a bad USCjr team that got embarrassed at home by Ky. I'd expect more fight from them. Horn is as good as gone.

10. Maymon had just another day at the office. 15 and 8. He can do that every single game and not bat an eye.

11. Jordan seems to have finally gotten it I do believe. I really love the combo of him and Golden coming off the bench. They looked great.

12. Stokes 9 rebounds again. We must get him more than 2 field goal attempts though. Granted it was against being double teamed all night. Really glad to seem him doing a great job passing when he did get doubled.

10. jarnell stokes needs more than 24 minutes, and has to get more than 2 fg. i dont care what you do, but he is your most talented player we need more from him offensively. with that said, he needs to improve his ft shooting asap, teams will start hacking him to prevent easy shots if they have any post depth.

Hope that CT gets back on track. Good defensive effort and I like the GRIT factor that CCM brings to his team. Upgrade talent level and look out east!

McRae is the X factor. He is getting better on D, still not there yet, but better. His offense is needed and takes the pressure off Golden and Maymon to make something happen. Don't know why folks think Skylar is supposed to be quick like a PG when he is SG playing out of position part of the time. If you will go back and watch the D a little closer you will see that Golden couldn't keep up with him either, which is part of the reason he was benched was his bad D.

Stokes is getting much better on D in stopping the ball on the screen switches. His rebounding is really special and they can't move him out of position. He is taking too much time on his FT's. He needs to take one bounce, relax, and push it over the front of the rim. When he doesn't think too much his stroke is much better.

Lots of great points. Stokes has a nice stroke on his mid-range jumpers and should be able to hit a FT. I agree he takes way too long and thinks about it too much.

is it coincidence that ware had a field day with mcbee guarding him and barely scored with golden guarding him?

UT played solid defense, controlled the ball on offense, and made a bunch of free throws to get this win. It was another very good win for the Vols.

You lose more than you win when Stokes takes two shots.

exactly. i understand he's being doubled immediately but lets utilize that jumper a bit, id give him the green light from 3 early on and see if he hits. IMO guy needs to be told to be aggresive, and you look for about 10 shots a game from him atleast.

in general i feel like maymon and stokes need ALOT more touches for each of them but thats just my opinion.

I'm not sure he is sufficiently conditioned for much more game in and game out.

he had been playing around 28 minutes a game, if 24 is what CCM feels comfortable with im fine with that. my point was more that no matter how long he is in there he needs to get touches, and IMO should get about 10 shots a game. he is too good, and is too talented of a player especially on this team to not get a good amount of touches.

At times UGA had 4 defenders in the lane with Stokes and Maymon. We need to knock down the uncontested 3 pointers when the bigs get doubled teamed every time they touch it. If the shooters started hot tonight then the UGA D would have adjusted to guard against the three. Stokes and Maymon could get some space and would have put up big numbers. Not so sure about Stokes shooting the three just yet.

i'd like to see im put a couple up, according to his hs reports he is more than capabale, but who knows.

you are definitely right though our guards have got to knock down the open shots when we kick out from double teams. if we do teams play straight up and allow our post to be effective, if the dont teams continue to sag into the post and double team and making it a nightmare for our posts.

They switched and had Richardson guarding Ware most of time he was on the court in the second half. Tre played great, but it wasn't his defense that caused Ware to cool.

A little rough.

we should all know by now that he is a good role player and does not have the ability to shut down SEC guards

Trae guarded him some as well, I can go back since its tivo'd and do a point breakdown if you'd like, with who was guarding him. Ware had 15, I'm guessing 12 were against skylar, which only leaves 3 for trae and josh, the sad thing is trae and josh guarded him a lot longer than mcbee.

This. We know what we're gonna get from him. Not sure why people expect it to suddenly be different.
