What has this team lacked the last few years?

Not a PG...while golden isn't an all American he's more than serviceable and a SEC quality PG.

Not big men...stokes and Maymon are among the best in the country.

A true scorer...Mcbee can shoot(sometimes), McRae can drive(sometimes), Richardson has a mid range game...but none of these guys are complete....none of these guys are going to go out against a top SEC team and take over the game and drop 25.

Enter the good news...Robert Hubbs.

He will give this team what theyve been lacking for years, a NBA bodied guard who has legitimate NBA potential as a 2 guard...he has the ability to hit from DEEP, but would much rather drive and dunk over anybody in his way.

Just thought I'd put something positive our there.

The good news.... Robert Hubbs is coming next season?

You serious, Clark? You're only 3 games into THIS season, and you're already looking forward to next? Has the curtain already fallen?

Poor fandom, IMO.

You do realize early signing period started yesterday so this is topical, right?

It's topical if you were doubting that he'd actually sign, I guess. I thought he was VFL tho?

I don't know that anyone that has been following recruiting was doubting he would sign but for those that may not follow basketball recruiting or spend the fall focused on football maybe Hubbs is a new name for them. So, after watching UT take a pretty sound drubbing this morning, I don't see a problem with sharing a bit of good info. Maybe tying them together in one post was a bad idea.

This team has definitely been missing guard play. Against OK State, nobody could consistently take their man off the dribble or hit the outside shot when the D would sag to prevent the entry pass. It would open things up a lot.

So if stokes stays and if hubbs( unproven) works well next year we still are missing some Main pieces to the puzzle.

Just heard that Jon Grudens kids are at knox Catholic high. It's on twitter, i'm trying to find the source, but a friend of mine who lives in knoxville told me about it.

It's college basketball. Everyone is missing pieces of the puzzle most years. However, if Stokes stays the 2013-2014 version of the Vols will be CCM's most complete team.

3 deep at PG with a senior, a soph, and a "true" pg frosh
3 deep in true big men with 5* stokes, jr Yemi, and fr Davis
3 hybrid guys that can play 3 or 4 Reese,Edwards, Q
3 wing guys all over 6'5 Hubbs,McCrae,& Richardson

Plus still 1 scholarship in his pocket if he choses not to sign anyone else.

Maybe for middle to lower tier SEC teams. Golden is turnover prone and takes too many contested shots instead of passing to the open player. JMHO

I hope Yemi shows improvement this year. If he doesn't develop, we will be weak in the post next year.

Golden is asked to take those shots a lot of the time because he is one of the few guys on this team that can 'create' his own look.

As for middle to lower, okay, prove it. Name the PG's in the league that are significantly better. I know there are a few, but not 7.
