The good news...

Are you giving up on this season already?

Is that what you took from that post?

Now that's funny!

You guys are a regular Abbott and Costello team.....

BTO - Hubbs is not the solution necessarily. He's may be what you need THIS year. Even next yr, he's still a freshman coming to a team that may have Stokes; that may have Maymon; or both or neither. Don't project him to be the saviour with 12 long months of anticipation. UTK may have a very different looking team when you tip off in 2013.

Just trying to slow down that Nichols-like train before it leaves the station.

I hope Yemi shows improvement this year. If he doesn't develop, we will be weak in the post next year.

I still think Yemi is a year away, at least. The guy is still learning his way around the sport. I think what hurts Yemi the most is there isn't an upperclassman to really help him with his game. Maymon is more of a guard trapped in a line backers body (so his game doesn't translate to Yemi's skills), Stokes is still working on his own game, Miller is a pick-n-pop guy and Hall is...well he's just Kenny. I really hope we hear of Yemi going to some kind of big man's camp over the coming summer.

I thought you only dealt in facts? The fact is, it was way too late for Martin to get in on any of the big name kids in the first class. Who did Pearl sign with his first class at UT? Yep, he brought former UWM commit Ryan Childress, and that was it. Martin scrambled to find the best that was available. To try to paint it in any other light just shows your dealing in agendas and not facts.

It's college basketball. Everyone is missing pieces of the puzzle most years. However, if Stokes stays the 2013-2014 version of the Vols will be CCM's most complete team.

3 deep at PG with a senior, a soph, and a "true" pg frosh
Trae Golden is not a true PG, Landry leaves a little to be desired (most vols aren't impressed with him)

3 deep in true big men with 5* stokes, jr Yemi, and fr Davis
Davis is not a true big man at 6'7 205lbs

3 hybrid guys that can play 3 or 4 Reese,Edwards, Q
3 wing guys all over 6'5 Hubbs,McCrae,& Richardson

Plus still 1 scholarship in his pocket if he choses not to sign anyone else.

This teams still lacks shooters and players that can create shots for others.

hard to quote you when you put your comments in my original post. But;

The 'true' PG label is old and tired.

How would you know what "most" vol fans are impressed or unimpressed with?

Maybe I should have included Davis in the hybrid category. You are correct.

And Hubbs should be someone that can create shots for himself and others.

Notice, I did not say next year's teams was going to be a juggernaut. Only that it will be his most compete team.

Most people on various UT boards including this one were hoping that Landry along with Reese would attend prep school or decommit. Hubbs is a great addition but that still doesn't address the need of an outside shooter. Trae is a solid player but he simply can't create for others.

I agree with all of that for the most part. I am still bullish on Golden at PG but can't disagree with you on the rest of it.

Why is a Memphis fan on various UT boards?

This might be the most contradicting statement I've ever read.

How so? Hubbs is great player with the ability to create his own shot and slash to the basket but that doesn't make him a shooter.

This is Hubbs profile per Scout....

"Scoring around the basket appears to Robert Hubbs' calling card. A 6-foot-4 wing prospect blessed with long arms and a solid frame, Hubbs uses his athleticism and touch around the basket to finish off plays at the rim. Hubbs isn’t afraid to mix it up inside. He’s always looking to score a rebound and will even take the opposition to the post. Going forward areas for improvement are his ball handling and jump shot."

Something you may not know, these recruiting sites don't update their measurables daily. A lot of times they can be quite a bit off...

He's much closer to 6'9" than 6'7" and that's from the lips of Jr. and Sr.

Just like various sites tend to be generous with players height and weight data.

Another tidbit...

These Evals aren't updated daily...You should've picked that up when they referred to him as 6'4", this eval is obviously OLD

Serious question...have you seem Hubbs play in person in the last 6 months?

Martin also said that he wouldn't sign kids just to sign them. He ended up doing the opposite of what he said.
