What bench? The next coach will just about need to purge half of these guys to be able to compete next year. The pickings are slim..

Scary to think how bad it will be next year. Seriously, who will be the go to guy next year? Josh?

I don't know. It's got the looks of a really ugly team right now. Throw in Counzo coaching them, they may have to give tickets away..

If we don't make the tourney, I make a serious run at Larry Brown and hope he accepts.

tennessee doesn't have a true floor general and that hurts at crunch time.

but, my god, maymon is lucky tennessee is not coached by colonel jessup or there'd be a code red happening real quick.

zo had to yank him. he had to. if it meant putting a steven pearl level player in the game, you still yank him
Can someone put some damn Stick'em or some WR catching gloves on his hands? He couldn't catch an STD in a Thai Cat House with a $20 bill taped on his you know what

Isn't Larry Brown like 98 years old. They might have to keep him from falling asleep on the bench every night.. Larry is probably done coaching..

i hate to bring up the whole pearl thing again, but when people speak of tennessee having no bench, i can't help but think of bruce getting productive minutes from his son or mcbee.

Hahaha. The funny thing about this is that people were killing Bruce for playing Steven over Maymon. Seriously, that right there is so damn ironic.

Have you missed the part where we've been blaming the coaching? Pearl got a lot out of very little his first few years. Counzo does less with more. This is the most talent he's had since he's been here. Same ole trash offense year after year.

Pearl did a tremendous job in year one, but I would take Chris Lofton any day of the week. A shooter can really bail you out.

He did. Pearl used his bench better though is the point. Counzo has no bench. 3 years in, that's his fault though..

Will be interesting to see if they come out fired up from here on out or if they're deflated after losing a big game.

Martin has enough shooters, especially at home. Sure the turnovers killed but Martin goes to the same well over and over. It's not the scheme, it's that they don't run it to utilize the entire floor. With Stokes and McRae you can get away with it most nights, but when you play the best or one of those guys are off it kills the team. Saying Maymon shouldn't have been on the floor is silly, but how many sets in a row does he have to fumble the ball before you stop running the play through him. Bruce could always draw up a shot for his best shooters when it mattered because his sets were unpredictable - he'd call sets where all 5 players are options to score, even if they weren't good offensively.

Richardson has become a reliable shooter. Barton has the ability, but his confidence is down. Martin never runs anything for those guys. A team like UF can take away an offense that is always looking for 2 or 3 players. The adjustment late was to move the ball quickly and set Richardson up for an open shot. Basically that was Tennessee's only hope for an open look against that defense. The one three he got was in transition and he made it. If he can get a look and make it in the half court set, it opens things up slightly for McRae.

CM had a good gameplan and the guys executed fairly well in the first half. Donovan adjusted at halftime and CM couldn't counter. This team may very well make the Tourney, but they have the talent to do so much more. They just don't have IT. And that IT is because their coach is always just a step behind. CM has had a chance to become a really good coach - great, tough guy that I think is a good leader, but he's just always a step behind and it's why his team lacks passion at times and is just a step behind when it counts the most.

Pearl got a whole lot from his bench with goins, Mcbee, pearl, Tatum, bon. Now we just have a 3 man rotation. A deep bench is key.

Maymon was abysmal no doubt, but it's hard to justify putting Armani in for him late. Sure he's more athletic, but Armani is still not exactly secure with the ball.

Fla beat us at our own game. They won the boards 39-32. We had 15 turnovers and only 8 assists. We were 9-17 from the FT line. Any one of those is enough to get you beat by Fla. We're lucky we were even in the game towards the end playing a team like Fla with that many disadvantages.

If we play anyone else in the SEC not named Fla, we probably win. I doubt many teams will be outrebounding UT going forward. UT's achilles against good teams is their guard play though. They just aren't good enough against the quality teams. They can outrebound and play all around better ball against the average to bad teams, but unless they're shooting very well, they'll lose to teams with good guard play.

This weekend is a big opportunity. We can pretty much stake claim to 3rd place in the SEC if we win the others. Ole Miss still has some tough games left. Our schedule softens up tremendously after this weekend. The only problem is that we tend to play to the level of our competition.

Stokes did not dominate Young at all. That was a good even battle all game and both players had their moments.

Overall, this team just isn't very good. It just isn't. I see no reason for Martin to stay another year.

Stokes had 20 & 11. Young 6 & 6. Not sure what else you call that.

Lol. Take maymon out of the game for who??

Heck of a defensive game for JM, but he almost single-handedly beat his own team offensively. 8 TOs speaks for itself. That is 8 missed opportunities in what was a 1-point game with 3 minutes to play. Armani probably should have replaced him at some point, but hindsight is 20-20.
