In my opinion. Who agrees or disagrees?

Hendrix was better. Pink Floyd was better. Sabbath with Ozzy was better. The list goes on and on.

Grateful Dead aren't overrated. Most people I know think they are "OK". They are rated right where they should be. The only people who think they are great are stoned hippies. And that's just because it is a cultural adaptation, not really because of how good their music is. Nobody has ever claimed they are as good as Hendrix.

I can't stand Pink Floyd, so I'll the Dead over Floyd every day. Not huge on Ozzy. Probably put him/them just below the Dead, but I'm a big fan of jam bands, and well, the Dead set the standard for jam band, so there's that.

As mentioned it comes down to musical taste and I also agree they are right about where they should be. I just don't like the bands you used as examples of who is better than them.

Exactly. Who are the people that are overrating the Dead?

Someone is apparently in one of those moods. First you bash Better Call Saul, now you want to pick a fight with Grateful Dead fans.

IDK if overrated is the right word. They're a niche band and they did their thing. I'm not a fan, but I can appreciate what they brought to the industry.

I never got into them at all, even though several of my friends from college did. I also didn't do drugs, which I think is a prerequisite

You can't pass judgement on The Grateful Dead until you've listened to a couple of albums with a head full of acid or LSD

Better Call Saul has done nothing this whole season that makes me want to keep watching. The first season was good. It kept me interested. This new season needs to pick up the pace. Maybe Breaking Bad set the bar too high, but I don't see how anyone could disagree that at the very least it's been a lil' slow. As far as the Dead is concerned, they definitely have some good tunes. They play a great live show. I don't like them as much as some people do, but that's okay because that's just one of the many things that I think that you don't have to agree with. Think for yourself and form your own opinions. Write about it in online forums like this one because if you like music as much as me it's fun to discuss it with other people who love it too.

That's cool though. I didn't mean they're better, just that I like them better.

Well, hate to break it to you, but a lot of people do disagree with you on BCS. Even one that agree it's slow still think it's been good.

Also you need to go back and watch the first 2 seasons of BB because you apparently don't remember that those were "slow" too. It almost got cancelled twice.

I like Anthems of the Sun, Aoxomoxoa, and around half of Working Man's Dead, but once they went back to their blue grass roots, they lost me.

Not a Dead fan, but got recruited to play bass to do a Dead set. Appreciate their music and was impressed with Phil Lesh's work, but they are as loose as they come.
