I agree. Every year, Gruden name is linked to a few different HC jobs. Gruden never shoots down these rumors and it has been said that he uses it to his advantage and actually enjoys all this attention, every year. AD's have a annual smoke screen that is caused by all the "insiders" or trolls and that leaves them one less to put out themselves, if that is how some operate.

patterson would be a good hire.. stoops would be ok assuming he found a decent DC ..Oklahomas defense hasnt been very good lately.. I know not everyone would agree but I wouldnt mind seeing fisher here.

Hart said the next coach has to have head coaching experience, be a proven winner and wants him to have had success preferably in our conference and has to have integrity. If we cant Gruden it will be tough to find a coach with all those qualities to win here and may have to crawfish on some of those statements.

I am on the grudentrain as well, but if it is not Gruden, Davis would be a good pick.

what smokescreen, i havent heard the ad ever mention Gruden or any coach for that matter. Did i miss something?

With the fans and questionable media creating the smokescreens, the AD can conduct the real search.

I think we need a college coach.... Not an NFL guy first and foremost... I list these 5 candidates in terms of record and recruiting ability....

1. Butch Davis - loaded Univ to Miami to become one of the all-time super powers in the late '90's, early 2000's.... Also loaded a depleted UNC squad full of NFL talent at a bball school in the South.... Downside is that he's been involved in cheating, needs a tight leash.....

2. Petrino - mastermind offensive and QB guru that coaches teams up way above their level without him.... Unethical and immoral guy, will need the shortest leash around

3. Chris Peterson - throw $$$ at this guy, he can straight up coach.... Wld not want to leave the West coast, but who knows

4. Bob Stoops - why is he on this list? I have no idea..... $$$$$ his azz!!

5. Gary Patterson - throw $$$$ and kitchen sink at him.....

Honorable Mention - Dan Mullen, Charlie Strong, Jimbo Fisher, Tommy Tubberville,
Franklin (Vandy)

We need coaches that either have proved that they can get it done or are getting it done right now, and build a pattern of success..... My #1 pick would be Butch Davis bc he's done it at 2 schools, is the best recruiter of all coaches listed, and knows the South..... He just needs a tight leash....

You dont use Gruden as a smokescreen. You do it the other way around. No way in hell you hire Davis who's Miami and NC teams were put on probation and dont get me started on Petrino. He is not coming here ever.
