I've played for 15-16 years. Taylor 614 a/e, Epi Elitist LP, and an older Fender HM Strat. Mackie sound, tc electronics G-major processor, loop station, Vox wah, Ibanez Tube Screamer, Boss Metal Zone.

That's what I'm talking about! Im assuming you mean a 614 CE, right? Anyway, nothing like a Taylor. I also have an Ibanez tube screamer...love em...those boss loop stations are incredible as well.:good!:

Yeah, I was using a/e to mean "acoustic/electric." Very bright tone, and a beautiful quilted maple pattern on the back. My distortion comes only through pedals (not that I use it that much), as I go straight through the Onyx mixer and to the monitors, without even using a traditional amp. Once my computer is finished, I'll have a setup that will require very little in the way of cords and pedals, hopefully utilizing only a screen and midi controllers.

I write a lot and very rarely have people to jam with. I'd be happy to get together with other of the VN "musically-inclined," maybe on a game weekend?

Sounds like an excellent idea, if any of you ever get to Bristol on a Monday night, let me know. The Blue Monday Jam is a blast. This week there were at least 15 musicians, one of the best bass players I've heard. First name is Jason, also great on keyboard and vocals.

Been playing for 7-ish years now. Haven't really improved over the last two or so, because I haven't played in any bands. I just use a Line 6 PODxt Live to plug in w/ headphones and mess around in my room. I still have my gear, a vintage 80's Fender amp head, and a 2x12 cabinet that I built when I was in high school with Celestion V30's. I have a rotating door of pedals, but the one constant is my Boss RC-20XL loop station. I love that damned thing.

Yeah I'd love to, I don't get down that way too often though...I originally played drums, and have been playing guitar primarily, but I want to play drums again during some jam sessions. It's killing me!

I have a nice set of Pearls downstairs with new heads that are dying to be played with some guitar jam.

We can always use a drummer for Blue Monday. We only had two this week, and one was the owner of the joint.

...but seriously, I've been playing for about 4-5 years and have a Fender Acoustic and Epiphone Gothic electric.

Yeah, I'd say you were right. It looks like a guitar that pointy would be hard to play.

Hey Etown, you ever heard of a bass player named Jason Lloyd of Ivy Road Band? He has been at the Blue Monday jam the last three weeks and he is awesome, even better on keyboard.

The name kinda sounds familiar...I'm not sure....I love me some keyboards.

I've still got my beginner I just haven't had the cash. Left-handed Peavey Raptor been playing for 7 years. I'm obsessed. I've been playing classical as well for 2 years and its beautiful.

Steve Vai plays the white Ibanez Evo with the ivy inlays through the fretboard and the other one thats clear and has glow-in-the-dark green LEDs for when the stage gets dark. Way cool.

So what songs have given all the Vol Nation guitar players the most challenge to learn (that you actually did end up learning pretty well)?

For me: "Mouth for War" by Pantera, "Eruption" by Van Halen, and "Bark at the Moon" By Ozzy Osbourne were quite a challenge to get down. I still struggle with getting the main riff of "Workin' for MCA" by Skynyrd down properly. My fingers just refuse to play it like Ed King does.

Born by Nevermore (Anything by Jeff Loomis is ridiculous).
