The Halfway Point

I think he is going to take the Medical RS and be a RS junior next year. That's what his dad implied.

Bad move $ wise

The older he gets the less the $. He won't be full speed next year either.

Take the $ now. He has already cost himself a boat load by not signing out of hs

My take - I'm sure you guys have been waiting for this

Tennessee does not suck across the board. All aspects of the team are better than recent years. EXCEPT ONE.

Offense is better.
Our starting pitcher I believe has been worked out and may be close to last season.

However, our bullpen is terrible and it is KILLING us.

Offense sometime takes night off sure but our bullpen has been atrocious since the conference season began and I think CDS is struggling with what to do with some rather mentally weak guys- some of whom are upperclassmen who should know better.

Andy Cox is an enigma wrapped in a riddle
Stephen Kane might as well wear a fire suit

and the damn walks and HBPs are insane.

I don't think it can be this bad all season. I think sooner or later one of these guys will grab the bull by the horns (like Soto) and will themselves into the roles.

I hope it will be Cox, Kane or Lipinski but feel it will most likely have to be Hunter Martin or Zach Reid. We shouldn't depend on freshmen Harper-Cook or Neely but if they step up, so be it.

God! I looked at all their stats and the opp batting avg and walks are terrible.

If 2 guys would just step the hell up, we'll be in regional play

which scares the bejesus out of me...:)

D1 Baseball Midseason College Top 100 Prospects, 2016 Draft
#5 Nick Senzel 3B Tennessee
#82 Kyle Serrano RHP Tennessee

Serrano still would likely be top 5 round guy. That's why I say he has to take the $ if his professional career is important to him IMO

In 2015 the #5 slot received $4,188,700 and the #82 spot received $731,000 or $418,870 and $73,100 respectively if Bernie gets elected....these youngins need to get a clue.:)

I've seen Senzel projected to go as high as #2 right behind a rhp out of high school.

With a slow start to the SEC season in baseball, speculation surrounding head coach Dave Serrano is growing and will continue to grow. Serrano is in the last year of his contract and has said he is only focusing on things day by day. Sources indicate to Volquest that Serrano needs a quick turnaround in conference play which is challenging with the next three weekends being a series at South Carolina, at Auburn, and home to Vanderbilt. Sources indicate that a decision on Serrano will be made before his contract expires.
-VQ War Room

I wasn't sure where to put this, but I thought I'd share.

Surely no one is surprised.

It is unfortunate that "from the mouth of the UTAD to Brent Hubbs ears" exists.

Why can't they just wait until the season is over?

A-holes.

Agreed that's why this is disturbing news

if UTADDH fired CDS before the season ended, low class in IMO especially with KS in the dugout. I could understand, possibly, if we were 6-23 and getting blown out by everyone.

Just think, 4 hits at the right time we beat Maryland, Ole Miss, Alabama and Kentucky. Regional in sight and ranked 18th......

I hate for anyone to lose their job, I just want what is best for the program long term. I'm not completely convinced that it doesn't start at the administration level. Recruiting, what is our budget compared to others? Baseball budget in general? Anyone know?

At this point I would offer CDS a 3 year extension for half the salary and no buyout. If he takes it great and evaluate him after every season, if not well then good luck.

Sounds like the perfect way for us to get left high and dry without a coach at any time before or during the season.

I agree with you. We are close and CDS and his staff are outstanding coaches and men. Baseball is a tough game where you can outplay someone and still lose or play terrible and win. I'm still on the train and have faith they can turn it around and soon. I spoke with one of the scouts at the game last week and he was bragging about the pitching staff we have coming next year. I asked him if any of them could help next year and he thought every one could and wouldn't be shocked if Warren was the only current pitcher that contributes next year!

My point is not whether he should be/will be...it's why does UT leak this crap? It puts undue stress on the players, ya know...the ones everyone is s'pose to care about.
