The Hangover II

Honestly, there's something about bootlegs in the video quality that ruins movies. First time I saw the original hangover was on bootleg and I didn't laugh once. Then I saw it later on on demand and thought it was hilarious.

This has happened to me at least half a dozen times, with the only exception being American Gangster, and the leaked version a month or so before the theatrical release was really good.

Man I'd like to think you're right but I just can't. I mean every one of the characters: Allen, Stu, Phil, and Chow were all so incredibly over the top. Plus I doubt I'll be able to bring myself to watch it again.

That makes a lot of sense then. I saw it right away because I enjoyed Ed Helms in The Office. I could totally see it not living up to the hype after listening to people constantly build it up though.

That sucks... and that's usually how it works. Maybe someday down the line you'll watch it again and enjoy it more when you've forgotten about it and all the hype that surrounded it.

i felt the same way, i heard so many people raving about it and then i finally saw it, i didn't think it was that funny.

but then again i saw it after i had a tonsilectomy. I'm gonna need to watch it again when i'm pain free.

i don't understand why people love bootlegs. the picture is crap the sound is even worse. if you've invested in a nice entertainment system, why play bootleg dvd's.
you might as well go back to a 31 inch tube tv.

My gf still has a big VHS collection, which I actually get some enjoyment out of.

Problem is that most people are watching on LCD's, and 480i picture on an HD LCD monitor look far, far worse than even on a CRT.

they have some good movies on vhs that was never re-released on dvd and many are collector items.

I agree some monitors are pretty rough when it comes to watching movies.

I have the original Star Wars trilogy on VHS, remastered digital sound and a 10 minute intro to each movie by Lucas are the only added features. No additional CGI footage and no Hayden Christiansen at the end of "Return of the Jedi".

:salute: the rerelease that came out in the 90's, right?

yep, that's the one. I'm pretty sure that's the first time any of them were offered on VHS and came out around the same time "The Phantom Menace" was in the theaters.

I thought it was earlier than that... I remember visiting my grandma in Dayton when the rerelease came out and seeing it as a kid. Probably the greatest cinematic experience of my life.
