The Hobbit

The Eagles are a noble species, they weren't there to be the taxi service for the Fellowship. Gandalf probably overstepped his boundaries calling on them at all. Plus the fact Tolkien hated using them.

yet he did, thus the problem. Dont' forget, I love the LOTR, but it just simply is what it is.

Yeah, I thought it was ridiculous how they saved them at the end of the movie, only to drop them off what appears to be damn near 100 miles from the damn mountain.

Same applies to LOTR:ROTK

If they can pick them up, why couldn't they drop them off? Should have written in some way the eagles are vulnerable to Sauron's eye or something, and how they had to sneak in all stealthy on foot. Maybe the books have something in them? I haven't read them.

It talks about how they rarely get involved blah blah blah. But they do. I kind of view the books like I do the Lost TV series. Fantastic to experience as a whole, but the endings kind of ruin it. The
ROTK especially since so much important information was omitted or even worse, significantly altered.

I imagine the eagles didn't want to get any closet to Lone Mountain due to a dragon living there. Just a guess.

For those that would like to know.....The Extended Version of the movie that we've been waiting for will be released Tuesday Nov.5th on blu-ray & will have three discs inside w/running time of 182 minutes. Enjoy & your welcome.

I bought the extended edition of the all three LotR and could never sit through them. I didn't have time for 4.5 hour movies before I had kids. Now I definitely don't. I don't even have 3 hours to watch the Hobbit theatrical release.

The movies are already too long. The Hobbit should have been 30 minutes shorter, and they could have easily done it by cutting out the parts with the brown wizard. Jackson doing his best George Lucas impression.
