The Jarrett Guarantano debate thread...

I am sure this thread is much shorter from my viewpoint than it is from others. Several of the miserable minority bashers are running rampant, I am sure.

Yay, another “let’s bash JG” thread. Well done, pretty much sent out the bat signal for the usuals to, once again, tell us how much he can’t do anything right. Congrats.
I'm not trying to bash JG, but just pointing out something that may be holding him back. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. GBO!

So he has no OL for two years, gets hammered and his number 1 WR and 1 OL are out and the offense for some reason calls plays with 5 and 7 step drops...and we are worried on his footwork.

I look at the Auburn game and have hope. Quick passes and the jump balls were to the sidelines and on purpose.

That will be how Chaney runs it. He isn’t going to have him in the pocket getting hammered every play and will dink passes and slants and roll outs.

I think Chaney stays away from many roll outs with JG because it's no secret that he has problems throwing in the run but overall thats exactly what I expect to see as well. Quick, rhythm based routes.

Just pointing out the obvious. Also, disagree with your take of him always throwing off his back foot all year....that’s not true at all.

I guess, besides the Auburn game, all I recall was underthrown passes, or defended passes.
His completion percentage says different. Not saying he’s first team sec qb but his accuracy pretty good. I’m more interested in if his leadership intangibles steps up this year. To me, that’s been missing...along with decent blocking by OL

I hope so. The sooner the better

Oh come on, stop playing internet tough guy. Any Vol fan that's not hoping with everything inside that JG balls out this year, gets even better in the off season and comes back next year and sets the college football world on fire is too foolish for their own good. Just silly.

This x 1000000000000000000000

I've certainly been very critical of JG's past performances....but I agree with these sentiments whole-heartedly!
We need JG to live up to his potential and lead this team to victory on the field. I do believe that he has it in him--and all he needs is just a little help to grow CONFIDENCE as the year progresses.

GO VOLS!

Once again trying to put stuff like this up verses what we've all seen for years isn't going to do you any good. Kinda proves while you're so insufferable, your take any graphic made as definitive proof.

I thought qbs began a pass with more weight on the back foot and then transferred or “stepped through” the pass for accuracy and distance.

He seemed to step through when he has time, maybe I’m wrong. It’s a new season, hopefully this one will be worth remembering.
No, you are exactly right. He starts correctly but many times doesn't make that step up and tries to arm it. Keeping that back foot planted got him killed several times. I fear for the guys health if we don't improve up front.
