Freak, it IS around 3/10 but is misleading. The success rate for EXPECTED onside kicks is much lower (~13%). Surprise onside kicks skew the averages.

No. I think we got too close to the punt a few times.

For what it's worth, I am not a fan of the onside kick at any time that a defensive stop has time to work. With 2 1/2 minutes, I would have favored a kick and try to stop 'em. But, they don't pay me to make decisions and I can't argue with those that make them.

CBJ brought this up in the press conference today. His reasoning was that an onside kick gives you 2 chances to get the ball back vs 1 chance if you don't. Didn't work out, but I like the reasoning.
