"Scamp" was/is a panhandle name for brown grouper/sea bass. In the '70s, they were popular eating. Restaurants would affirm that they had it on the menu. Fish markets would sell it out in hours. Local sports fishermen would hold their catches up for bragging rights.

It’s still standing but was closed last year
😞 crap. Just Crap. Spent many enjoyable vacations there (mostly to see the lighthouse). Grew to love it, quiet and subdued and the anti Panama Beach that my family loves. I had read that Julia’s had also closed. Crap. I’ll just remember how it used to be.
