The Liberal Code of Beliefs

I'm thinking along the lines of a tit for tat. Like, I'd give you gay marriage if you gave me term limits in all of government.

we already have term limits but most Americans are too dumb to enforce them.

I'm not willing to give up any to get more.

Some where in the thread the word "tolerance" has been used. But it does seem that there are those on here that throw it around but yet have have little use for it if it differs from their perspective. Does that go against the word itself?

This is one of those threads where the gloves come off, and nobody much cares about putting them back on.

We need one of these every once in awhile to keep things on an even keel around here.

Complexity and nuance are foreign concepts to Justin. It's hopeless trying to argue with him about it.

There is nothing complex about you libs wanting total control over everyones life, wanting to tax the hell out of us, not wanting us to have guns, wanting to allow anyone who feels the urge to marry, wanting to kill unborn children, wanting to give us socialized heath care, wanting to silence critcs.

you listed things that are not restrictions by the left but from the right. Sad you can't see it anymore

Agreed. However, it seems that government, being as smart as it is, would know that citizens are not personally responsible enough to do this.

I don't want anything that is bolded. Yet you still call me a lib. :lolabove:

I'm seriously beginning to wonder if you are even real, or just some script that goes out to right wing websites and randomly copy pastes stuff into this board.

so you want the gov't to impose more restrictions on the people? I don't. If people are too stupid to throw out the ignorant, corrupt people they keep sending to DC then they deserve everything put on them.

Admit it rjd, you want to kill babies.

You got me. But only if they are from upper-class, gun-owning, christian families. If we can get those babies some free healthcare and food stamps they have every right to live.

We must be because we haven't done it yet!

you listed gay marriage and abortion. How is the left trying to restrict access to these? I'm beginning to think you're joevol's cousin

Yes I did. The Declaration of Independence states you have the right to life. And what would you say if a father wanted to marry his daughter or brother and sister? You ok with that. Who is joevol?

I've never had the opportunity to vote for or against Ted Kennedy or Nancy Pelosi. Yet, I'm sure I've been affected by his/her time in government. You see where I'm going with this? When senators and congressmen/women are elected they affect far more people than their immediate constituency. I'm sure some New Hampshire-an doesn't agree with everything Bob Corker pushes through either. But, once these yahoos get in and do these personal favors in their voting area they are almost assured to be re-elected. I'd like to see people govern with an eye toward the greater good and not getting back into office.

I don't see a problem with term limits. Much of the corruption we see out of D.C. stems from all these career politicians we have.

I completely understand but don't feel it's my job to prevent the people in Mass from electing someone they think is good (as much as I would like to). When they get tired of the way things are going they will make a change.

It happened in 94 and 06 and will happen again soon

It isn't your job or my job. They should realize that spending too much time in the senate or congress is usually bad. Much like the idea of someone being president, governor, or even city mayor is bad. The relationships that form and the us against them is only destructive for everyone. I may be wrong and I apologize if I am, but I don't think that these positions were initially meant to be careers.

the Constitution outlines the base, it doesn't limit the people to only doing things listed.

I am pretty sure we argued this whole thing out in the woman has 15 abortions in 17 years, no need to relive it. You interpret the constitution differently than I do.
