Early sharp money moved LSU down to -1 and -1.5 and the weekly square moves have put it back up to LSU -3.

If Ainge was injured, you'd see a rise to about -5 or -6 by Saturday.

I just don't get it, LSU is 0-2 on the road. Lost by 13 to Florida who we only lost to by a point, and there favored in Neyland by 3.0, and it's moved from 1.5 in a day.

It is intrusting but unless you bet $ lines are no good. No turnovers and we can out score them.

this rapid movement in a spread or two is prob due to the news yesterday that Ainge was wearing a boot and not practicing. Everyone knows he's playing, but visions of one bad step and his hobbling to the sideline are possibly influencing these numbers.

Remember, for the 1o0097890th time :), that lines are NOTTTTTT meant to be predictions. They are means to get action from bettors. I know it sounds bad, but the general public doesn't know nearly as much as they think they do, and the bettors feel they'll have equal action with LSU -2.5 (where it opened).

It may have effected the open of LSU -2.5, but it in NO way moved the line to -3. None. Just trust me on this one.

The line is a direct effect of the betting action on that game. It's intent is to keep the money wagered equal on both teams. So if the betting public knows or anticipates key injuries, weather factors favoring one team over another, it can have an effect on who they wager on, thus moving the line up or down.

This is correct. It's also 100% correct that this minor move in the line had nothing to do with Ainge's injury. That would cause a swifter, larger change.

and, there is all kinds of computer formulas that go into setting the lines.

here's my question VolinAZ, are the betting services worth the money? i'm no major gambler by any means, but i do play around a bit, and it seems to me that they don't really say anything that i couldn't figure out myself.
