It seems to me that our scheme on offense has gone vanilla since his departure. Everyone still talks (Herbstreit) like we are this team that wants to lull you to sleep with runs only to hit you over-the-top with deep balls several times per game. Where are the deep shots? Nico missed 3 (hit 2) that I can recall, but that’s not a very high number of attempted long passes. I don’t think it’s because CJH doesn't trust Nico. I think it’s because he’s actually a much more conservative play caller than we thought he was. Long story short, I miss Golesh.

I agree. Last year the playcalling was conservative but really felt like that was due to lack of trust in Milton - which was understandable.
But this year with Nico and all this talent makes no sense.

We will lose multiple games this year if this is our offensive philosophy.
Throwing in the flat and running up the middle will not get it done

I the O Line is now and a future concern.

Not just philosophy. We have a freshman quarterback running for his life. O line can't form or keep a pocket against sec competition. And our "best in conference" receiving corp drops 4 or 5 passes a game. We had the ball with 3 minutes left and could've iced the game. Then squirrel drops a first down pass followed by kitselman dropping a first down pass and had to punt

Agreed but also think we don't have any receivers that can create separation. It's time to let Mike Matthews get more snaps. This O line....don't get me started. Huge disappointment so far
yeah why hasnt he been playing ? He will hit the portal if they dont start playing him

Don’t worry. When Florida fires Napier they will hire Golesh and then we will be in trouble.

I disagree. I think it's mostly CJH not trusting Nico.

How much $$$$ would it take to get Golesh back? Write the check AD White. You got all that money from Pilot and Food City now. We don’t need more luxury boxes and entertainment complex’s. We need wins

Not sure why we don't stack WR's anymore, we don't run the option receiving routes anymore. I really dislike the WR's screens, they never gain much, the receiver is too close to the sideline with no room to maneuver.

We need to get back to the offense Hendon ran and get away from the one Milton ran.

That dog not gonna hunt.
We heard that same thing last year with Milton.
If he's not trusting his QB's then why isn't Moore out there because he's been under Heupel the longest and knows the system and he should trust him

Golesh has nothing to do with it!!!! Stop that nonsense! Heupel is supposed to be a great play caller. Not earning his 9 million!
Closely coming up on 1.5 yrs saying otherwise...
The offense last year didn't look the same and this years offense is playing the same type of play calls as last years.
It's Heupels offense but Golesh was up in the booth scheming

I don't see how anyone can know that Alex Golesh's absence is the reason we're playing the way we play now. It could be the reason - Golesh seemed to be very business-like and dialed in every time he spoke, very intense on the podium ... and the play calling definitely changed after he left - but I don't see how anyone can know that Halzle is the one bumming it up in the booth. Unless you're sitting in on the staff meetings or on the headset between Heupel and Halzle during games, I don't know how anyone can claim to know that.

This offense has been a shadow of its former self since Hendon left.

In it's current form, this offense can't be successful if there's not a smart running QB behind center. The wide splits open a lot of lanes that Joe didn't and (up to his point) Nico hasn't taken advantage of.

I keep seeing this. That was the thought about Joe Milton also.

Heupel's offense is supposed to be pretty simple, few plays, reads that are "take what's there," and whatnot.

But is it so hard that he can only trust 1 in 3 decent, including a very highly sought after QB like Nico, to run it?

I'm not following that logic. I think Heupel doesn't trust his own offense.

Its the O line plain and simple

Its the OL. 2021 team inherited 4 NFL lineman. This one and last yr might have 1.

2021 team avg 35 ppg against SEC teams.

2023 and 2024 have averaged less than 24

Its a really simple game. If your 5 OL cant block 4 DL, you will struggle to score.

If it's the O Line this year and was the O Line last year...... we're going to have to do a better job recruiting depth and perhaps in strength and conditioning to help avoid some injuries (hopefully.)

If you can't execute your offense because you lack the talent in the trenches, no matter how explosive it is, your offense is useless.
