The man is wiser than all

I respect the crap out of him. There's not a better man in the country to be our coach. But his coaching ability is still yet to be seen. I'm very anxious to see him get a shot at Michigan.

I love the run we're on, and I think he's earned an extension if he even wants it. It's just mind blowing to me that it took until there were four games left in the regular season to start playing this well.

I agree about his coaching but it appears the light has come on. I am willing to watch his coaching ability grow as he continues to mentor young men the right way.

I'm down with that. He represents the University EXACTLY how you hope someone would.

I'm with you on this. He's not a bad coach Honestly he has won as a coach but has gotten a lot of bad breaks. Hopefully this is a sign of better things to come from him.

Not sure but they have obviously come together. The program is getting a lot of respect from the media. I give CCM the credit. He never wavered when all the criticism was being thrown at him and the players. Give the man a raise and extension.

The Team Chemistry is often overlooked. This team appears to have it.

Three wise men seem to keep things light.

There are few discipline problems, if any.

Martin by the fans deserves a second look. Is this team playing to their max potential, I think they have another level and get through this game today and we will see it next week. Mercer will be a tough out, mentally for us. Martin will have them ready.

The best Video of Martin was in one of the threads following the Iowa Game with the players.

You survive Cancer and you are tough as nails. Doesn't make him a great coach, but does tell you more about him as a person.

This is a gross over reaction but he has earned another year.

I would rather overreact in a positive manner than to overreact in a negative manner like most of VolNation has been doing. (Myself included). We have become a satisfaction now society. JMO.

Unlike other coaches who came be fore him, his players have had zero off-court problems during his tenure. This is not just by accident.

That's not entirely true (Yemi and T. Golden), but you are mostly correct. The incidents have not involved Johnny Law, nor have they cast a negative perception to the national public eye.

This team has largely reflected the quiet discipline of it's coach off the court. Credit to Martin and his players for that. They seem to respect him and behave accordingly, or at least are careful about what they do off the court.

I should think much more than one year, by way of contract extension.

One year extension isn't any better than no extension. You either give him a minimum of two years on an extension, or you fire him. There is no middle ground there, and I'm not sure how you justify firing him at this point, especially with a win today (I don't care if it is Mercer).

nobody has a problem with CM as a man and leader of young men. The issue have been reverting to losing gameplans, his best team not playing to potential, and slowness to make things happen or necessary changes, such as facing Stokes up more and attacking the rim instead of running wasted motion offense 35 feet out that results in more turnovers than attacking.

Maybe the team was full of late bloomers who took a while to "buy in". I haven't seen many games, so I am just speculating FWIW.

In football, it took the Packers, nygiants and ravens most of the season to get it together...and then they won Superbowl.

If we win today, good luck firing him. When was the last time we went to sweet 16...like against Ralph Sampson's Virginia team in the 80s?

Also, you have to look at momentum into next season, it is always a major positive to finish out strong.
