The Masters Tournament

I think weather prevents that a lot but may not this year. The greens at Augusta don't play much different either way though.

If there's ever a year when they can do it, it's this year. It's been bone dry. And those greens most definitely play differently if they get firm.

The speed won't be much different & the slopes will allow a good shot to stay on the green for the most part.

Big John disagrees.

How many times have you been to the Masters?

I forgot about all those green jackets he has & I wasn't aware he carried a 1 iron. The last person I heard of carrying a 1 iron was Nick Price & that wasn't at Augusta. I doubt anybody here could get home from the tips with two 1 iron shots. Probably not many on tour.

Negative . . . When the winds blows or those greens get crusty they stop receiving anything but perfect shots and the windows for approach shots get smaller and smaller. They can really alter scoring based on the volume of water they put on the greens.

95% of the PGA Tour can cover 450 yards with a couple of 1 irons or hybrids . . . and I'd love to try it. :)

It's 465 & if you carry a 1 iron I doubt you have a hybrid. The yardage may be able to be covered by a few but hitting a 1 iron 200+ yards up a steep slope isn't a high percentage shot. I would also like to try.

I haven't hit a 1 iron in 10 years probably, but man I really used to love hitting that club off the tee. Back in the day, I think I may have been able to pull it off.

Besides, the typical Sunday pin placement is on the front. :)

On a somewhat related note, it blew my mind when I first realized I could set up my chair by 18 first thing in the morning and it would still be there in the afternoon.

The chair situation, concession prices and the fact that the course sits across from a strip mall and is bordered on one side by very modest houses always blows everyone's minds.
