The Match Up...

I would love to see Florida try to run the no huddle in Neyland Stadium, in fact, it would make my year. They might have spent the first two games running silent counts, however, running an offense, completely silent, is a completely different scenario.

Also, as it pertains to the AF game, they only had 4 drives in the 4th quarter. Would have only had 3 had they not recovered the onside kick...
and as long as we're playing the IF game, what if AF runs the option again on the two pointer...we hadn't stopped it all night...what if they score and win by one? would anyone be hanging their hat IF we score with 6 minutes to go, or IF we recover the first on sides kick? No, we'd be pissed.

i'm glad we won, and i do recognize what had to happen for AF to get back in that game. the bottom line though is, they did do all those things to get back in that game and have a shot to win, and to simply dismiss it because we won, i think is naive.

we will need a much better defensive performanc Saturday night to win this game, and truthfully i do think the D will play better, partly because we are better than we showed last weekend and partly because we wont' have to put up with that offense this weekend.

The Gators don't rush for more than 70 yards in this game.

I'd really just as soon put the AF game in the hangar.
I guarantee you that Chief has....
me too, but we only have two games to go on....one really good, and one really good offensive game combined with a bad defensive game...

i do believe this though, both the teams we've played are better than both the teams UF played....and i think that will help us more than hurt us.

There was still 1:00 left on the clock and UT had all 3 time outs. The only possession that AF kept UT from scoring on was the interception. We would have won the game by 2 points instead of 1.

Also, recovering on-side kicks has little to do with which team is the better football team. No matter what team you are facing, there is always a 50:50 shot at the onside kick.

Not unless Myer has installed the triple option as his running attack this week.

I hope you are not serious in thinking that UM can just "install" the triple option in one week like an upgrade for windows. That offfense takes a while to learn. He may have some spread option plays but the triple option to the extent we saw it last week is way out of the question. At any rate, he needs better rbs and qbs to pull it off.

no arguement there. and the better team won imo don't get me wrong here...i just can't dismiss our defensive woes so easily based on what i've seen. but as i've said, i think they'll play better Saturday night....and they'll need to big time.

Speaking of the triple option and AF, over several years AF has proven that they have an offense that can score points, against pretty much every opponent they have faced. Most ranked teams they play beat them by about 14 points, and AF scores somewhere between 20 and 25. Yeah, it sucks that Ainge threw the INT, however, you can't sit here and say that we got lucky against AF. AF got lucky in that they were able to make it as close as they did.

Ok, at this point, i'm just glad we won the AF game....i'm now ready to just put it behind me...i've gotten that all off my chest now.

No...not at all. That is spelled S-A-R-C-A-S-M.

Any option we face from Florida will be similar in name only to what we saw against AF.

I pray sincerely that they attempt to run their version of an option often on Saturday night. Chris leak should go ahead and check into the Hospital before the game should that be the case.

which is why you won't see it...

the bigger concern for me is how effective UF will be at taking advantage of our depth issues on defense. i think if UF is up at the half, you could see UF come out at the beginning of the half in the no huddle to get us off tempo and prevent substitutions and go for an early score to take us out of our offensive game plan. If they force us to be one dimensional, where we have to play from behind, that's when you could see UF's d take over the game.

but i still think this game kind of goes back and forth most of the game...i don't think either team can afford to get behind by two or more scores with out some help from turnovers.

You have made some good points. That combined with what I have heard from inside the program is why I think you'll see an offensive shootout and a 2 touchdown Tennessee win.

Executing is exactly what they've been doing, and there is every reason to think they will continue to do so.

You know a lot of people forget that the Vols put together long, sustained drives in each of the past two games. They remember the long passes, but forget that we have already shown that we can execute in a sustained drive.

We're going to win this one.
Exactly... the Air Force game was nothing BUT long drives. They were needed because the defense was gassed, but, long drives none the less.

I disagree...I think this is a game where UF might start to make believers out of those who say the spread can't work in the SEC.

I think with Harvin and Caldwell we have the "football speed" (sorry but Chad Jackson may run a 4.3 on a track but he wasn't that fast around the end) to really do some damage with the inside handoffs, end arounds, etc.

I don't think it's going to be an every drive type of playcall, but certainly within the first two drives you'll see at least one, and if we have success with it, your front 7 will esentially be neutralized and you'll have to rely on safety help and for your corners to really step up.

We will run for more than 100yds, but at least 30-40% will come not from RBs, but from WRs.

I also believe Tebow will be more of a factor. If he comes in early and can either gain some yards on the ground or get a couple of completions it will cause some long term problems for your D as well.

If you have any pull with the coaching staff please call them and suggest this. PLEASE. And tell them to let him run it....a lot.

Our D-line and 'backers will make him a nice soft spot on the Neyland turf where he can watch the game from a comfortable prone position.

If you've seen him play at all you would know those comments are delusional. Tebow is as big and probably as strong as any LB you've got. And with any room at all, a D-lineman won't touch him, that I can promise. I would like to see Tebow go up against one of your safeties...that would be funny

I have seen him, and yeah I know...he's Superman in Orange and Blue, and the Second Coming of Jesus all wrapped up in one.

And I'm the delusional one.:birgits_giggle:

I'll tell you what....you've convinced me....we give. There really is no need to even play the game. The only way it would be fair is if Florida plays using only Tebow and Harvin.......even then you should probably be favored.

Geez.....what flavor is the Kool-Aid down there? It must be good.

Pretty strong statements for a freshman that hasn't been in a real game in an environment like Neyland against a real defense. I hope he does come in. Just so your little bubble will burst when you see him laying in a heap on the turf. One run, one hit, done.

If we see a heavy dose of Tebow Saturday night, it doesn't bode well for the Gators.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke on it Cheech.

yeah, a freshman, true freshman, qb is stronger than Marvin Mitchell, Jerod May and Ryan Karl....ok....you must be a football novice, and if not, i want whatever you're smokin'.

as for our safeties...i think mr. Wade and mr. morley would be happy to accomodate a lick on a gator qb....:eek:hmy:

you'd act like we have a pop warner team out there....

That's because that's all the gators have played so far this year. Time for a little wake up call.
