Love this quote over there

This is a total failure on the part of uf and a complete screw job by the sec against uf. Tenn just was handed their ticket to atlanta and uf has had the 2016 flushed down the toilet. I am totally disappointed that uf accepted this crap. What the hell is wrong? Foley already checked out? ***hs was not such a fox on this one.

Now look at that bold in the comment. All they were worried about was backing in by canceling a game. That rule needs changed in the offseason to "you must play 8 games" to be considered for the SECCG.

Edit: editing this since the office said without 8 games you can't qaulify for the SECCG.

Now we're gonna have to deal with a healthy Fournette on the road and we lose our gauranteed win prior to the FSU game. So now do people think it was worth it sticking to our guns originally?
:eek:lol:

Come on in Volnation, popcorn for all!

I'm not sure why Foley caved now to be honest. I think fans want to win too much, it could be last week was about wanting win too much. idk

It has been said the office said you can't qaulify for the SECCG without playing 8 games just like alot of us interpreted the rule as it is written.

I wrote in the other thread, it might have been possible that LSU threatened to sue at that point, as no equitable relief was forthcoming.

I don't think EITHER team was given a choice. Make the game happen or your missed game counts against you. SEC commish took too much heat and had to act.

Sounds like it. I wonder if LSU said, we understand we'll see you (SEC) and Florida in court. Something caused Florida to cave like this, this is a huge money loss.

I read the rules and it appeared to me that they could and should be interpreted that way. I said so days ago on this board and the TD SEC Rant board. My post to that effect didn't raise much discussion on this board and was ridiculed on the other one.

I've been saying the same thing. The literal text doesn't say that in exact words but it's the obvious intent.

"Each team shall play eight conference games" but then win percentage is wins over "games played" or something to that effect

Rules do not say win% denominator is games played. They don't even really imply it either. They're a little vague, but they do read more like the denomiator is the required 8 SEC games.

UF got all cute. When LSU said, "we will play u in Gainesville on Monday night", Foley should have jumped on that offer." Both have easy games this week, so they could have recovered with no issues. Time for Foley to retire. His cheese has slid off his cracker

That never happened. The offered Monday, but in baton rouge

No. This is a huge money grab by UF. Sure, they buy out an OOC game, but they will make much more than that with LSU playing the make up in Florida. It also gave them the easiest route to the SECCG next year.

UF just bent the SEC over.

Well not going to start another thread but "The meltdown on the LSU board is hilarious" also.

LSU and Florida will make up their postponed game

From

This is the biggest Tiger win in a couple of years. Impressive work by Alleva

Uh oh, someone noticed two straight games in Florida on the second page

Reports are saying the Gators get us in the Swamp the next two years. Just looked at the schedule for next year. @Bama, @Ole Miss, @UF, and @Tennessee. By far the toughest schedule in a while

Annnd their jumping off the ledge

Alleva is a f***** idiot. No game this year is better than @uf next year and the year after. Atleast uf is a **** team, but boy if he pulled something like this against bama or ole miss. Byu better be moved home

"BYU better be moved home" :eek:lol:

Can this day get any better??

Correct. Shall play 8 games to be even considered as a Divisional champ. The tie-breaker stuff is/was a totally separate issue.

Ok I'm home now and don't have it in front of me.

There are two imperatives.

1. Each team SHALL play 8 conf games.
2. If a conf game is postponed and the two institutions cannot agree on a date the issue WILL go to the Chancellors and Presidents for resolution

I was paraphrasing on the win percentage calculation but yes really isn't clearly defined and that needs to be rectified.

I don't know what people are thinking to be honest.

I wish none of this had ever happened.

However, I would trade LSU on the road this season for back to back home games in 2017 and 2018
