The midterms are over; who is going to run for President?

If the Ds want to win the electoral college they are going to have to find another Bill Clinton prototype, a modertate-to-conservative, probably from the south.

Oh how I miss Bubba!

How about we go for the republican version of Bubba with Mike Huckabee for the GOP nomination.

All he needs is a saxophone.

I say we nominate John Bolton. he'll never get elected, but just imagine how fun the debates would be. just let the moustache do the talking...

actually, Weird Al Yankovic is my first choice, but I doubt he'd want to take the pay cut.

Obama will run in '08...but I think many will jump on this bandwagon, blindly...b/c it's the en vogue thing to do. I mean everyone will know his name b/c Oprah and others will make sure that happens. Nevermind race, but would you still vote for him if you knew his religious affiliation was Islam? Would it affect how you feel and where his interests might lie?

"What if Obama is engaged in pious fraud? This is a Muslim practice of pretending not to be Muslim to further the cause of Islam or to "defend the faith". He becomes President and then says, "Gee…I think I want to be Muslim again" after he finds the "football" in his hands that carries the launch codes for the USA nuke forces."

Barak Obama a Muslim apostate headed for the White House?

Personally, I think Obama is a phenominal speaker and has a nice smile...but he has arrived too fast and has waaaay too much mystery about him.

His middle name is Hussein cspin!

here's a little more on this from a different source:

source:Columnist Says Barack Obama 'Lied To The American People;' Asks Publisher to Withdraw Obama's Book

"Fiction: Obama stated in his Convention speech: 'My father ... grew up herding goats.' The 'goat herder' claim has been repeated endlessly. It is a lie. Fact: Obama's grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama was a prominent and wealthy farmer. His son, Obama's father, was a child of privilege, not privation. He was an outstanding student, not a herdsman."

"Fiction: Obama was given an 'African' name. Fact: Obama is a Muslim who has concealed his religion. I am a strong supporter of the Muslim community, and I believe Muslims have been scapegoated. Obama has a great opportunity to be forthright. Instead, he has treated his Muslim heritage as a dark secret. His grandfather was named 'Hussein.' That is an Arabic-Muslim, not African, name. Hussein was a devout Muslim and named his son, Barack Senior, 'Baraka.' Baraka is an Arabic word meaning 'blessed.' Baraka comes out of the Koran and Arabic, not Africa.

And...another lie or deception...his name...he claims it's an African word meaning blessed...

source:Transcript: Illinois Senate Candidate Barack Obama (washingtonpost.com)

"OBAMA: My parents shared not only an improbable love; they shared an abiding faith in the possibilities of this nation. They would give me an African name, Barack, or "blessed," believing that in a tolerant America, your name is no barrier to success."

It is, actually, an arabic word:

Barakah: Definition and Much More from Answers.com

Just food for thought...why lie?

With regard to him being a strong Christian...he is pro choice and doesn't believe in Hell. That's a little strange to me. And he became a Christian only after moving to Chicago and after his political career got kickstarted...coincidence???

It's quite humorous to see the attempt to lead his name Barak to being Muslim. Many words have crossovers into other languages. Actually anything you claim is 'Arabic' is actually Semitic. So the name has ties to being Jewish as well.

Baraka is actually a common name in certain areas of Africa. Many names have derivatives that overlap into other languages. John can change into Ivan, Ian, Juan, Johann, etc. Meanings can also overlap. With a huge Muslim reach in this area of Africa it would not be uncommon for names to overlap.

I have to admit...I'm skeptical about this guy. What do you think about him so far?

He has the charisma. But at the same time, he's untested. It's a catch-22 with someone like him. You don't get the baggage but at the same time you don't have the years of experience and knowledge of policy. I'm on the other side of the aisle so I wouldn't vote for him any way. But I think he's definitely a quality guy. But as others have pointed out, with that middle name and his African roots, there are those in this country who just cannot find it in their minds to vote for someone like him. In this day in age of terrorism and 'the world' being against us, I don't think very many Americans would vote for him. Try HHS head or something else in a cabinet position.

I agree to a certain degree...I'm on the other side, as well, but I still think this guy will make a strong push in '08. Some analysts think this is his time if he ever has any plans of making a run. A political career matures around the 12-14 year mark and there is little more that can be achieved after that. That said, their is no incumbant to contend with, the Dims have few other "strong" candidates, and Reps are losing support. In addition, I doubt he would have trouble in the fund raising department. Although he is lacking in experience, many think he can put together a strong enough cabinet to compensate.

Obama doesn't have a chance to secure the nomination for Prez. This is still a money game and 2008 is too close now for him to amass a warchest capable of outspending the Hilary machine.

Unless, of course, his money comes from "elsewhere"...

If you know anything about fundraising in politics, ANYONE has the capability to raise millions. Keep in mind most of the money spent in last week's election was raised in the last few months.

Put someone up who offers a victory and the money will come. And also keep in mind Hillary did spend quite a large sum of her money in this cycle. So she's not dealing with the fat bankroll that is often broadcast.

Not a chance in hell a BLACK man named OBAMA wins the Presidency.

Not that that is "right", but I just don't see America doing it.

After reading almost all of his book, I take this statement back. If the American voting public get to see what this guy is all about, I think he might just be the Dems most electable candidate.
