Josh Richardson was the glue that helped this team win today. I have been on his case of late, but I was wrong. I can admit that and I look forward to his continued success and improvement.

GO VOLS!!!

Great write up. Appreciate reading someone who knows hoops, and can give credit where it's due. :hi:

Stokes may have played the 2nd half of the season like a 1st-team guy, but he played the 1st half like a role player. If I'm being fair and consider the entire season, I'm not sure he'll make 1st team, even if he's playing like it now when it matters most.

Also, I would disagree that Tennessee has played well against the zone this season. When Tennessee shoots well from outside, they can shoot teams out of a zone. However, when they aren't shooting well from outside, they struggle to manufacture points against a zone.

Good write up Z. I'll add that this was a game of runs, and Tennessee was able to get the last run and withstand Mizzou's final attempt. Most importantly, when Tennessee was down 50-42, they went on an 18-3 run to create enough of a gap to hold on.

Heck yeah it was a game of runs. The game was so nerve-racking it gave me the runs!

This was a crazy game of runs. Although outplayed Mizzou the final six-seven minutes.

Just a hard nosed, gritty team effort today. It was a must win game and we got the job done. Couldn't be more proud of our guys! Go Vols!

J Rich is fer sure the player of the game. Huge rebounds and the most consistent mid-range shooter on the team. Played well and made some clutch defensive stops. go vols

Yeah z. If you love the game so much, do something to be around it if you are thinking about it. You are young enough.

A lot of asst. coaches on here have said CCM would cut Chievous loose to open a spot. After his performance today do you think that will ever happen? I think not.

I'm not going to lie, i haven't read any posts in this thread. I had a long day and watched the game when I got home. I can say is that it seemed like we had our **** together in the second half. From what I saw of Richardson, he hustled his ass off. We needed that! I think I'm more happy for them because they have worked their ass off and they deserve to play in the tourney, esp McBee and Hall!

I was an assistant last year for a high school team. I had to take the year off. I got a new job that will fit in perfect for a coaching opportunity. Hoping I can be an assistant next year.

Thanks for the advice. :hi:

Good write up and great win Vols! The Vols closed out a close game against a very good opponent. I didn't think they had it in them when they went down early in the second half but I'm happy to say I was wrong. Go Vols!

Thanks for the write up. Missed the game. Can't wait to watch it on the DVR. Frank Haith wastes more talent than any coach in America. Thank God he was on the other sideline. That Mizzou team should not have that many losses.

Lunardi having Ky in before UT is a joke but not surprising. Ky is getting in on their name right now. They are garbage on the road.

Speaking of garbage, if Fla thinks they are a serious contender then they better change something. They've lost some games they should've won. I said it awhile back and I still think they are Elite 8 at best and that's on their best day. They are terrible in close games. There seems to be a lot of those in the tourney.

Completely agree with the assessment of JRich. May be the best game I've seen him play. Aggressive, didn't try to do too much offensively, did what he does best and slashed with the little midrange. Great game and I loved the attitude when he tried to flush it on Oriaki. As always did a great job defensively. Oh, and don't forget the contribution made by Chievous today. He was huge. It was a great sign that we had guys step up and have Mcraes back in the first half until he got it going in the 2nd.

They are playing some pretty good ball right now. 2nd game in a row where they got behind by 7-8 deep in the 2nd half and came back and won...earlier in the year and last year they would have lost those games. I like it!

Chris, remember that Jarnell is rewarded only on SEC games. I don't recall when he actually started playing well, but the OOC games early probably won't be used against him. That said, I don't know if he will make 1st team or not.

Scored some great seats behind the Mizzou bench and enjoyed the game of the year. Nice write up, as always!

Hopefully, we can carry our late season momentum to the SECT.

I wasn't aware that the all-SEC teams were based solely on SEC games in all the years I've followed college basketball. In fact, I'm shocked if that's actually the case. If so, I'd say Stokes is at least 2nd team.
