My first thought: Tennessee and Dark Mode looked good under the lights of Neyland as the Vols crush the head of the snake.

1.Tennessee looks way more stable with Cooper Mays back at cener
2. Three running backs are better than one. With a touchdown each the three headed monster was running loose.
3. The Squirrel White catch is a top play of the week. Using your foot as a third hand with a defenders arm in your face falling backwards, no problem.
4. The defense FINALLY scores sime points. I think they said it was the first defensive score since 2021! Six sacks on Rattler and there was no way they were putting 60 points on UT this year.

On second thought...

1. The Bru McCoy injury was devastating. He's obviously done for the year but has a year of eligibility left. Hopefully he recovers and we see him play next year.
2. We found a way to win with a sub par QB. Strong defense, a dominant running game and a clown catch by Squirrel White coupled with short easy throws. In spite of scoring 41 points Joe Milton still ranked #10 of 14 in QBR inthe SEC this week. The saving grace is Rattler was #12.
3. We need a strong finish to the first half of the season against TAMU because it looks like the second half could be brutal. The UK game all the sudden looks like a tough win which could mean multiple losses in the back half of the year.

I don't believe Joe is subpar. He is at least above average. You got spoiled on Manning and Hooker. Joe is a Vol for Life and is getting better every week. His one Intercept was nothing but a good punt.

Are you referring to my summary of the game? I pretty much stated facts and gave a very balanced view of the game. I don't get it?
Milton played his best game of the year. Yes he made two mistakes. He also had wr drop balls. He wasn't a problem. If anything we were throwing too much in the 2nd half

My assessment of Milton was based on numbers, QBR specifically. He was, in fact the 10th best QB in the SEC in week 5. And if youre saying that was his "best game of the year" well then being #10 in the SEC as his high point would very much make him sub par.

What numbers are you using to support that though? Im comparing him to all the other SEC QBs in week 5.

Here we go.. I don't think any other QB in P5 is under the microscope for EVERY pass as Joe Milton. Last year, we had deep kill shots in most games passing. This year it's different if you haven't noticed. We are running a lot and have good backs. This means, besides the bubble screens (which could be considered a form of a run play, when the back catches behind the line of scrimmage) Milton's mid to deep range balls aren't as many as Hooker's in the percentages. Maybe that's why each pass is scrutinized so much.

Also, the "Up-Tempo" doesn't seem as fast this year. Are we purposely slowing down, or is the fact we have a good run game going, we don't need to do the tricky shifts quickly on a spread field?

As for Milton running the ball in the RPO, much criticism of him not doing it. You got 3 backs there than can take a pounding. Why risk what happened to Bru happening to Milton? There is a place for a QB draw somewhere down the road, but it should be a surprise and should be used sparingly.

Last point: The most popular player is untested backup QB. Nico has a bright future, but look how the fan base forced Saban to "expose" his lesser talented QB's and return to the one that he started with. Trust the coaches, they haven't missed a practice. They know what is best. Rattler's pick 6 last night was as bad as Milton's interception in the swamp. I think Milton caught more flack though.

Well half those 10 qbs better lost yesterday... so yeah Milton is better than Vandy's, UF's and several other qbs but you keep posting

All good points you made but I would say this about why Milton would get more scrutiny than Rattler.

Milton is the leader of a MUCH MUCH more talented team with MUCH higher expectations.

USC is gutter trash and they never really have high expectations. Rattler is a true blessing for that team and an unexpected surprise.

So, when USC does bad its 'normal' and the QB doesnt take as much flack because the expectations arent there. This is not true for Milton.

Specifically about expectations, USC was never expected to beat UT at home at night. Never. Not even the most delusional USC fan expected them to win. On the other hand UT was absolutely expected to beat a dog sh!t Florida team. Tennessee was highly ranked and UF was unranked.

Finally, to your specific example of the two picks. Rattlers interception was in no way the cause of USCs loss. USC was already doomed because their OL could not protect the QB. This is the reason they lost. Six sacks. This is the one difference between this years game and last years game. Our awful defense got zero pressure on Rattler and he tore us up. This year was different, not because Rattler is worse than last year but his OL is and that makes all the difference.

Milton only got sacked once by Florida. UTs defense had more than twice the tackles for loss than Florida had. Tennessee had ample opportunity to score on very explosive plays that Milton simply didnt execute on or his WRs dropped. And the interception even had the game announcers questioning what he was doing throwing that pass like he did.

So i think that pretty fairly draws the distinction between why Milton has received more scrutiny than Rattler.

If you look at the two QBs in relation to their team's expectations, Rattler is a pleasant surprise for a horrible football program and Milton so far has been what we have seen for multiple years now and how he lost hist job to not only Hooker but lost his Michigan job too. Not much change in his capabilities. UT has much higher expectations as a program and thus you get your difference.

Your post makes no sense at all. 5 of the top 7 QBs all won and the ones that lost, lost to those other teams. Your opinion is especially uninformed given that Florida's QB beat Milton head to head and had almost DOUBLE the QBR as Milton in that game.

Vandy's QB is dead last in QBR for the year so the fact that he beat Milton is week 5 only makes your argument look worse.

But you keep posting 😀🤣

I don't know where to begin. Stats mean jack ****. What matters is getting the win. His job as the QB is to keep the offense moving and scoring more points then the other guy. Nico is not the starter. Get it through your damn heads. He isn't ready and likely won't be thus year.News flash next year we will likely be an 8-4 team maybe 9-3. About the same ceiling as this year. The OL wont be there and you will be crying because Nico will make mistakes too. Continuing to bitch and ***** moan because every play isn't perfect makes you all sound soft af. Its football. Grow up. The end
So I was very complimentary of the game and I made a comment about Milton that you didnt like and you trashed my whole post?

I just don't get it. I feel JM III could pass for 500 yards, complete every pass and folks would look for something.
Could win the NC throw for 300yrds, 3TDs, 2 over throws and 1 pick and all you'd hear is he threw an interception and over threw the receiver.
Milton played good yesterday and he didn't throw a ton of those bubble screens

He’s got three picks including the two from last night.
