The most annoying thing about Obama

love this consistant obama excuse.

Complaint: obama spends too much money! Excuse: bush did it too!
Complaint: obama lied about being bipartisan. Excuse: everyone else does it!

does that somehow make it acceptable behavior? I thought the "we'll jim did it!" excuse only worked for 3rd graders.

But what I am saying is he could have completely ignored that very clear message, handed out pork like a Thanksgiving breakfast to all the blue dogs, and gotten this thing passed. He could have done what it took to utilize the dem majority.

Far be it from me to defend Obama on the HC debate, but I am just saying it could be a lot worse right now.

I understand and agree it could be much worse but I think it was pretty clear that pork would have been a double edged sword and those voting for it in many regions of the country would have signed away their chances for re-election.

I am not claiming that the fact that Bush did a lot of the same things makes it right.

I AM claiming that it is irrational to stomp your feet and whine that Obama is doing it when your own party's standard bearers also did it, sometimes in context to an even greater degree.

I wholeheartedly endorse your criticism of overspending. But I reject the claim that it is something new in terms of Obama.

I also reject the claim that expanding the role of the federal government by Obama is "Oh my God! Socialism!" whereas when Bush expanded government it was good solid management.

I disagree. Bringing home the bacon is how these same yahoos keep getting elected. It's why everybody hates congress as a whole but keep electing the same people from their districts.

I know those on the far left will condemn all those who participated in the tea party movement as racists but I believe the majority of them saw the reckless spending we witnessed over the last decade and cringed at the thought of even more under Obama. Bringing home the bacon appeals to some but given the current climate I think it would only help take a little of the sting out of the bite.

Remember that increasing taxes are almost inevitable given the direction we have been heading, some people will always believe there is such a thing as free money but more and more people are waking up to the fact that that free money (pork) they're getting is actually being paid for by them through taxes. I hope sooner rather than later the majority will wake up and realize that by re-electing politicians who bring them unneeded projects they are in essence donating to said politicians campaign fund.

I agree in substance KB, but I think you are giving people too much credit. As a whole, many of the leftist crowd would have been fine with UHC as proposed by Obama.

Absolutely, the far left was with him on this issue, it was the moderates on both sides as well as the far right that was the obstacle and that's one pretty large obstacle. Sure some of the moderate left would have gone along and accepted it but it would have caused a splinter in the party that would make things more difficult moving forward.
