The most important thing that has to happen offensively tomorrow .....

A solid run game is important no doubt but we HAVE to see the passing game come together. Another bad passing game and red flags are going off like crazy.
You get the run game in high gear and the passing game will follow. That is the whole secret of Heupel’s career. Our OL just wasn’t getting any real push in the first half last Saturday

Good point. This offense isn’t good enough to play behind the sticks due to penalties. It’s been a very undisciplined team.

Right now, due to OL issues and Nico's inexperience, that's true. Fixing the lack of discipline needs to be priority #1, as eliminating those killer penalties would mitigate many of the problems we're having in all three phases.

Agree. And those between the tackles runs where Sampson picks up 5-6 yards create the short yardage situations I was talking about, which makes the playbook wide open and keeps the D on their heels. I would like to see some sweeps and RB screens mixed in.
And those solid first down runs are what allow us to go tempo and keep the defense from being able to adjust

Heupel’s offense is predicated on creating and exploiting mismatches. If we can do that today, we win big. If not, we lose.

No doubt, and those mismatches are easier to locate if we remain in good down and distance situations. It allows us to dictate to the defense.

The Florida curse is a stupid thing. It doesn't exist. Just win the line of scrimmage, want the game more. Push them off the ball, take it to them for 90 minutes. Attack, attack, attack.

Execute and control the tempo. Nico has to get into a rhythm and if that happens I don't think the gators have the manpower to do a lot about it nor keep up on offense.

Heavy doses of Sampson and Bishop, using misdirection, pulling guards and TE’s, create lanes. Move the pocket some and give Nico the green light to roll out, buy time that our O Line otherwise won’t likely give. Doing that, Nico needs to focus on his check down, likely Sampson out of the backfield one of our TEs need to be the go to. Eventually we might shake one loose deep downfield.

.... is to avoid the stupid killer penalties. False start, motion, illegal man downfield (even though that was a bullschiit call) - those kinds of penalties had us behind the sticks all night long last week, making the offense predictable and increasing the pressure on a struggling offensive line. I would include holding, but that can be called on virtually any play, I'm talking more about the dead ball calls and basic fundamentals. And I won't even mention the idiotic running into the kicker penalty that I thought was the turning point last week.

Heupel's offense is predicated on staying ahead of the sticks, creating positive down and distance situations where the playbook can be opened up, the defense is on its heels, and the fast pace comes into its own. 2nd and short and 3rd and short are downs where the defense can't pin its ears back the way Arkansas was all night last week, so pass pro will be better and more downfield shots will be there.

If we can avoid those penalties and create positive first down plays and keep the building rocking, we will roll the Gators tomorrow night.
Bottom Line: Offense don't beat yourself, beat the opponent!

And yes, let's start throwing in some new wrinkles every game.

I think if Nico launches 3/4 bombs and the receivers catch them for long TD’s, it all goes away.
I'd be tickled with running the ball down their throats along with quick passes. (aka the Oklahoma game plan where we held held the ball for 35 minutes - keeping our D refreshed)

Good points by all , but to me the key is staying ahead of the sticks. This is such a tempo and momentum oriented system, and it just seems to stall out after those bad dead ball penalties. That clearly has to change, as the false starts will happen more on the road, but I just feel that avoiding those kinds of killer penalties is the key to short yardage situations, which opens up the playbook.

I'd also like to see more RB screens and quick release throws like slants and curls. Get the ball out of Nico's hand fast and keep the chains moving.
We didn’t run much tempo against Arkansas outside of the 2 drives to start the 2nd half. I’m wondering if it has to do with OL conditioning? Not sure, but it’s clear we are a much more effective offense when we hurry up.

Maybe Nico was struggling to make the correct decisions when we hurry up. Which is understandable being a freshmen. Hopefully whatever it is gets better as we go deeper into the season

I don't care how many yards we get in the passing game if it efficient. That's all I ask. We feasted on seam routes two years ago. Good DCs can scheme against those. We absolutely set up our passing game in 2022 to be successful by pounding the rock. The 184 yards rushing against Bama made those easy pass and catch routes possible

The passing game hasn’t followed all year, even on games where we ran the ball well.

Agreed. I guess I should have phrased me point better. I was just tying to imply I need to se out passing game do well. I’ve seen our running game and Sampson dominate this year, but I haven’t seen the passing game look good at all.

Off tackle, sweep, toss, screen out of backfield, PA to crossing/slant, TE over middle, PA designed Nico run.

Anything, just not up the damn middle.
If we get a sweep I’m gonna go buy a lottery ticket. Remind me if we do. I hope we do tho.

We didn't but it's hard to run tempo when you're in 2nd and 3rd and long all night. The penalties killed us, and Josh had to keep a back and TE in to protect on those 3rd and longs. Stay clean, pick up 5-8 on 1st down, get a couple of quick first downs, and I think we'll see some tempo. Can't put the cart before the horse.

No doubt, but having a stud like Hyatt taking the top off the defense opens up the seam routes for everyone else. I'd be very interested to see if Mathews could be that guy. But it all starts with the run, no question.

Hyatt was a stud because our run game was a threat. We have guys that can fill that role. Spreading it out and running effectively creates big plays, if executed by the QB properly. Hooker had tons of games under him in 2022. We can't expect Nico to have that type of seasoning at this point. He's got the tools. He's better at this point than Hooker was at 6 games as a starter. Nico's decision making on running has been poor. Improvement there will make a huge difference
