The Muslims are coming!

If expressly Christian functions occur on campuses (which they do), I am not going to get mad if someone wants to have an event that preaches tolerance to another group.

Then you weren't the object of the post.

Fact is there are people who continue to protest religious use of public buildings in spite of ALOT of precedence approving it.

I didn't know comedy was a part of the Islamic faith.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion...

To me and every other conservative I've known, these words mean exactly what they say. No more. No less.

It is the left that has whipped them up into an absolute rule of "separation of church and state". It is they who contort them into ludicrous extremes... I am simply pointing out their inconsistency.

I have absolutely no problem with the play being done there... However there are those who would if the play were mocking Muslims or say... atheists/evolutionists... from a Christian perspective.

Universities are supposed to facilitate learning; sponsoring any party that will mock and/or deride another party should not be done with public funds set aside for education unless a counterpoint is provided in the same forum (not at separate events, as then you are only encouraging the solidification of bases).

Evolution is neither religious nor irreligious; it is the scentific method in action and it is areligious. The fact that it contradicts a religous sentiment does not mean that it should not be taught. Everything about biology contradicts the pantheon of Hindu gods; should we stop teaching biology?

To discredit evolutionary biology one must approach the topic by either saying the entire methodology behind science is wrong or it applies to every aspect of nature aside from this.

I disagree. It is not the institution's mission to assure balance or even decide what that means. It should welcome critical review of any idea presented or discovered.

Evolution is neither religious nor irreligious; it is the scentific method in action and it is areligious.
I disagree. And that fact alone is really all it takes. I do not have to be right... but my right to be wrong (if I am) must be respected.

I can and have given a reasoned explanation for why evolution is dependent on a philosophical premise that is not falsifiable and therefore not scientific.
The fact that it contradicts a religous sentiment does not mean that it should not be taught.
I would agree if it were taught critically to include discussion of the philosophical underpinnings or if it weren't taught exclusively. When by law and fiat you declare that only the views you accept should be taught... it ceases to be education AND science.
Everything about biology contradicts the pantheon of Hindu gods; should we stop teaching biology?
Biology is a branch of operational or applied science. It is useful in a direct way and does NOT have to speculate about events that may or may not have taken place millions of years before recorded history.

It avails itself to direct proof. Evolution does not. If you proved evolution "could" have happened in an absolute, concrete way... you would have still done absolutely NOTHING to prove it did.

To discredit evolutionary biology one must approach the topic by either saying the entire methodology behind science is wrong or it applies to every aspect of nature aside from this.

Nope. To discredit evolutionary biology you only need look at the chasms in the fossil record it predicts, the lack of observational proofs, the lack of experimental proofs, the downright incorrect predictions that have been made based on the theory,... and that it assumes no intelligence for things that function like very complex machines.

That does not "disprove" evolution. But you and others like to treat it as if there is no room for doubting its "just so" stories. I argue that you start with the ending point because it is the one you desire then disclude anything that jeopardizes that conclusion by declaring it "not scientific".

I just don't think you really "get" evolution, sjt. Anytime someone speaks of "gaps in the fossil record," I can't help but shake my head. It's like saying the Spanish Armada didn't exist because we can't find all the ships.

Education is not a bad thing it's just not that big a deal anymore in 90% of professions.

Most companies just look at your degree as showing you can do jumping jacks when asked and will be a yes man.

though i get your point..i make 17.50 hr at a textiles plant and i'm a high school drop out...i regret not going to college not for the learning but the fun of it...reading about all of yalls time at UT and elsewhere sounds like when my dad said to me "you wanna go to work or you wanna go to school" i shoulda picked alittle more carefull..i'm sure my spelling and grammer would be improved too lol

Fresh Uighur clashes in China leave 11 dead
By Louise Watt in Beijing
Monday, 1 August 2011

Police shot dead four people yesterday in the far north-west of China, bringing to 11 the death toll in a weekend of violence in one of the country's most troubled ethnic regions.

The four died during clashes that injured more than 10 people in what the state-run Xinhua News Agency called "an eruption of violence" in Kashgar. On Saturday, seven people were killed and 22 injured in the same Silk Road city.

Xinijang has been on edge since nearly 200 people were killed in fighting between Uighurs and Han Chinese in 2009 in Urumqi, the capital. The region has been beset by ethnic conflict and a sometimes-violent separatist movement by Uighurs, a largely Muslim ethnic group that sees the region as its homeland.

UK: Islamic group calls for Sharia in three Muslim areas - Jihad Watch

And independence from British law. It is likely that this is already to a great degree the de facto situation in these areas; Muslims Against the Crusades is just being forthright about it. "Dewsbury, Bradford and Tower Hamlets ... where Islamic extremists want to establish independent states with sharia law," from the Daily Mail, July 5 (thanks to all who sent this in):

Islamic extremists have called on British Muslims to establish three independent states within the UK.
The notorious Muslims Against the Crusades (MAC) group have named Yorkshire towns Bradford and Dewsbury and Tower Hamlets in East London as testbeds for blanket sharia rule.

The medieval 'emirates' would operate entirely outside British law, according to a document on the MAC website.

The MAC group, led by Abu Assadullah, was set up last year and has become notorious because of its violent protests, most provocatively burning poppies during the Remembrance Day silence.

Under the heading 'Muslims should set up Islamic emirates in the UK', MAC says: 'We suggest it is time that areas with large Muslim populations declare an emirate delineating that Muslims trying to live within this area are trying to live by the sharia as much as possible with their own courts and community watch and schools and even self sufficient trade.

'Likely areas for these projects might be Dewsbury or Bradford or Tower Hamlets to begin with.

'In time we can envisage that the whole of the sharia might one day be implemented starting with these enclaves.'
--------------------------

Other inflammatory instructions include demanding the release of all Muslim prisoners, a ban on Muslims joining the police or armed forces and a rejection of British democracy.

The document ends: 'We can conclude that measures by the UK government are nothing more than an attempt by them to strip the Muslim community of their Islamic identity and to integrate them into the non-Islamic way of life.'...

The act of immigration can be an act of jihad, in islam this is known as hijra, the sole purpose of many moslems when immigrating is for the purpose of taking and claiming new territory to be ruled by islamic law.
