The NCAA Is Just Ridiculous!!!!

Let the players show emotion. If there is a little taunting it was the other team's job to prevent the score. As a coach I want my players to show emotion, not look like robots.

The rule is still very subjective and puts too much power in the hands of a referee. God help the man who calls back a game-winning TD because they were "Taunting"

The rule changes they have made I agree with one but the other two is just getting ridiculous. First of all the wedge is probably a good rule considering concussions, injuries during kickoffs I am ok with that. But this crap of taunting being a live ball is crazy. First of all I dont think any player should openly taunt another player but the refs never imply the rule correctly. If a kid jumps up and shows emotion, or salutes or whatever they throw the flag. Pretty soon we will just have a bunch of robots playing football. The last rule I have a major problem with. If Tim Tebow or whoever wants to praise God and give him glory NOBODY should ever take that away from him or anyone. Also if a kid wants to put his area code on there to be proud of where he is from what in the world is wrong with that. Now I dont think they should write obscene things on there but good lord the NCAA could regulate it instead of eliminate it.

Taunting is sometimes subjective, but I agree that it needs to be stopped or discouraged. Taking points off is too draconian, though. Yardage penalties or suspensions could be used, but taking points off is not a good idea.

I don't mind the wedge rule, but the other 2 are stupid. Taunting doesn't affect the play but they are regulating it as if it does.

I'm not a fan of any of the rules. The taunting is horrible. You should never be able to stop a touchdown unless it is a serious penalty (ie. holding, block in back, chop block, etc...) but taunting?! That's ridiculous! I still do not totally agree about the wedge rule. I understand trying to make it a safer game but it is a violent sport. People who play know the risks and injuries are part of the game. The eye black rule is horrible. Plain and simple. I'm not even going to get started on that topic.

the new taunting rule is a spot foul if the player taunts ON THE WAY TO the endzone. They aren't going to remove a TD if a player taunts or celebrates after the score.

Yes it's subjective, but if they only throw flags on obvious occurances, then it seems like a good rule to me.

Wait, those guys aren't stretching their hammies by high stepping into the endzone?! Seriously though, this is ridiculous. First off high stepping into the endzone is in no way offensive to anyone so why ban it, secondly this leaves a lot of room for questionable calls in my opinion that could cost a team a game

does it count if someone is running to the touchdown and points to the heavens cuz someone they loves died?

like jermaine lewis in the super bowl with the ravens

All it does is give refs more excuses to interject themselves into games and influence the outcome. Remember what happened to the Washington kid? Especially in the SEC where officiating is suspect on a good day, this is not good.

You're going to look real stupid doing a dance in the parking lot after the game.
Not any more stupid than some of the clowns who put on a show every time they do what they are supposed to be doing.

Do you jump up on your desk every time you complete a project at work?

By the way, just because I don't like the showboating doesn't mean I agree with the rule.

Don't want to be taunted? Don't let them score.
But then I guess nanny doesn't get her say.

Or, instead of taking the whole 6 points away and placing the ball at the spot of the foul, they should make it more interesting and take 2 points off the TD for taunting.

If you really think it's the same thing, then you really think too much of yourself, and are insanely naive.

I've been married 15 years, so everytime me and the wife have relations, I do a backflip and point to the sky , thanking God for the opportunity.

this is getting worse and worse with every passing year. the wedge blocks i can understand but the taunting rules and the eyeblack ban is just asinine. by the time we get to 2020, there's not going to be any emotion or individuality associated with the game.

what if a team is down a few points and with under a minute left a player on that team breaks a big run for a td, but holds his arms up or something similar in celebration before he gets to the endzone........are they going to call that back for taunting too? ridiculous. i actually can't wait for something like that to happen so the fans can mock the crap out of the rules committee.
