The New 007 is Now a Woman

Dang, I don't think I know of anyone that admits to ELO being one of their favorite groups. I liked Tom petty so through it back at me.

I liked Tom Petty in the Traveling Wilburys. Bob Dylan, too. The other guys smoothed them out; I never particularly liked them by themselves ... except Dylan's Nashville Skyline was pretty good.

Well dang, I'm really sorry to hear that. I like Tom Petty OK but not enough to buy his albums or CDs. I bet there are some artists we could agree on liking, but I just got home after detouring to avoid a stopped train and was not able to get to FedEx so gotta eat quick and head back out to get a parcel on the way to MIT...

Preferences are just that. Lots of room for great music. I can listen to The Beatles, The Stones, The Who and The Beach Boys without worrying which one is better.

I was just stating my point of view, but should not have. I hate when someone diminishes one's music preferences. To each their own.

Jeff Lynne produced and co-wrote a lot of Petty’s later music. I appreciate ELO a lot more now than I did when I was younger.
My appreciation of ELO was also late-blooming. Between 2005 and 2010 when I took leave of my corporate life (and some would argue, of my senses) I was doing 1 or 2 startups a year in places like Japan, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia and China. On those long flights I would kick back with a few select CDs and my Bose headphones, and one of those CDs was ELO which I played a lot!

I’ve spent the last year rehearsing for a Tom Petty tribute. I’ve learned about 20 songs so far. I’m a much bigger Petty fan after this endeavor than I was before. Guy had a gift.
I want to play in a band so bad I can taste it. I have no desire to be the front man, maybe take a little solo once in awhile, and I don't even care if I get paid. I am envious that you are doing that.

I've been watching James Bond movies since I was a child in the 60's. Now the woke culture thinks that James Bond needs to be a woman. Sorry, but that ain't happening for me.

The new 007 is not a woman.

No Time to Die is an upcoming spy film and the twenty-fifth installment in the James Bond series to be produced by Eon Productions for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Universal Pictures. The film features Daniel Craig in his fifth performance as MI6 agent James Bond.”

Pete Buttigieg: James Bond Not ‘Intrinsically White’

Mayor Pete Buttigieg believes that characters like James Bond are not “intrinsically white,” allowing Hollywood executives to switch up the race of any character.

“I think, whether we’re talking about James Bond or whether we’re talking about comic books, it makes sense for the portrayal of these characters to reflect the amazing cultural diversity of the country,” he said when asked about black actors playing characters that were previously played by white actors.

Pete's right.

Who is Hollywood pandering to with this move? Women don't watch spy movies. Men don't want to watch spy movies with female leads. Ergo, this movie will bomb. It is like making meat flavored soy burgers to appease vegans. Vegans don't care if it tastes like meat because they don't like meat. Meat eaters don't want to eat fake meat. So who are these fake burgers for?

Pete's right.

Pete's a perv, and doesn't know which end is up. Read the Ian Fleming books. There's little doubt about Bond's skin and hair color. Don't remember which book, but he was told to stay out of sight for a while after returning from the Caribbean ... something about standing out in London because of the tan.
