The "no respect" card

To the point of the topic title ''the respect card''....its a way to overused one, and in most cases its an unwarrented jab at everyone because its really designed to motivate the team from the inside out. My reponse when I hear this phrase used is a borrowed one from Sylvester Stallone's Rocky5....you want respect?, come and get it. Actions speak louder than words.

Let's see since yesterday, the Vols have cracked the top 10 in both polls.

BP is on just about everyone's list for National Coach of the Year, and SEC coach of the year

Chris Lofton was named National Player of the week last week and SEC player of the week last week.

One of the ESPN gurus has us at #2 seed as does Gregg Doyel on CBS.sportsline.com

Respect? i think we got that covered...now go beat Auburn, like your supposed to!!!

Go Vols.

Don't bet on "love" even if UT wins SEC East, SEC Championship and the SEC Tourney. It will be only because the SEC was weak this year. They'll even get a #2 seed and still won't get the "Love"

Well the SEC is down this year, and it's a good thing we're taking advantage of it....and #2 seed not love? c'mon man....TN #2....in bball....the fact that that's even a discussion is still weird to me...

Following this scenario....overlooked in preseason....I sure hope the football Vols aren't in the top 50 this year! :biggrin2: Until the end of the year that is. It's a lot easier to win from the underdog role, with a chip on your shoulder, than it is to be driving $50K cars around town from your NBA friends. lol Seriously, I never liked the fact we were ranked so high in preseason fb last year. Schedule was way too tough to be that easy. That being said, there is no reason that UT shouldn't be among the elite in any sport. The school is too good, the facilities are too good and the city and people are too good. Don't like the "love" from ESPN? Then read Sportsline.com. They love the SEC. All sports go in cycles. Just ask the Pittsburgh Steelers. OK finished with my rant. LOL

   GO BIG ORANGE!!! LOVE THEM BASKETVOLS!!!

Well today I was talking about the tournament, and my teacher asked me in all seriousness if Tennessee even had a Men's basketball program. I was offended and told him to check the rankings and he was shocked.

not to get off topic, but when i was in college, as a freshman, one professor really had trouble saying my last name.....it is quite difficult so i give EVEREYBODY the benefit of the doubt the first time out....

Well, after about the 5th day, he still hadn't gotten it, after 4 previous tries, and me pronouncing it for him each time, so after the 5th time, which he didn't even give it a try, i said the following:
"why don't you take it home tonight and study it, maybe you'll get it right tomorrow.".

Needless to say, while the comment got a rousing giggle from the class, the prof was not nearly as amused.

It all worked out though, he wound up writing me a recomendation letter to UT when i decided to go there....

back to bball....sorry for the tangent.
