Just a good info-graphic (sorry it's so big). Nothing groundbreaking here:

It's real change that people can believe in. Yes we can.

Stats are for losers.

That being said, how does Obama lower the cost of a gallon of gas? Just out of curiosity.

Change energy strategy to encourage more drilling and production. Would put downward pressure on oil prices and thus gas prices.

Some people will go to no ends to save a buck on a gallon of gas.

Buy a damn hybrid. Seems easier.

Encourage drilling? Where? Seems like a half baked short-term solution at best.

Anything else besides more drilling? Only way to lower the price of a gallon of gas?

Where is this "more drilling" you had in mind? Specifically.

North America is probably sitting on the largest oil reserve in the world, and they're on the verge of making the shale oil process economical. It's blowing up in Wyoming.

All he's gotta do is step back and allow private companies to work their magic.

How long does the largest oil reserve in the world last? If Obama stepped back and let the private companies destroy North America, how long until you saved $.50 on your next gallon of gas? 10 years? 5 years?

Since I don't seem to understand Capitalism, how would a significant portion of the population buying hybrid or electric effect the price of a gallon of gas?

OE answered this well. Tie in an aggressive move to natural gas and you provide the market with 2 powerful signals - an increase in future supply and a decrease in future demand (by transitioning many vehicles to CNG).

This was not your original question - you asked how he could lower the price of a gallon of gas.

Price is partially set by supply and demand. This lowers the demand side.

and economical shale production massively increases the supply side, while giving the option of telling OPEC that it can shove its price manipulation up its ass.
