Makes no sense. the number 2 horse wasn;t even impeded.
Yeah, I agree. As soon as they started talking about how a Derby winner had never been disqualified, it felt like a "setup for history" to take place. Kinda like the lead up to the 97 Heisman when a defensive player had never won.

Never heard the winner booed before. That's a first.

So with the Cone news, and GW/Bone likely gone, how does the roster look? What are the needs going forward? 2019? 2020?

PG: James
SG: Turner/Johnson
SF: Bowden/Gaines
F: Fulkerson/Pons/Pember
F: Burns/Kent

Obviously some needs across the board...I think backcourt is your most talented position, but there’s not much depth. If they could find a grad transfer 1/2 or even 3 I think it could be beneficial. In the post they’ve got some bodies (and that’s not counting ORN or Plavsic), but it’s very unproven and tons of question marks...obviously a grad transfer 4 or 5 could also be beneficial.

If I’m the staff I’m looking at the 3 best available graduate transfers, regardless of position, that I feel fit best into my program and I’m recruiting them and trying to land at least 1 of them. Per ESPN the Top 3 would be Kerry Blackshear/Rayjon Tucker/Shakur Juiston...I think any of those 3 change the dynamic quite a bit. Will be interesting to see if Tennessee holds 1 spot open for after NBA Draft to see if some guys are available, other teams may be full so it could limit schools competing.

I'm not as pessimistic as most are. Even minus Bone and Cone we have several options at PG with James, Turner, and Bowden.

I think if Kent gets and stays healthy he can actually run the floor pretty well for a guy that tall.

Turner, Bowden, Johnson, Kent, and Pember should be able to hit 3s. Hopefully Gaines and James can as well.

Lots of good passers. Johnson especially worked hard to look for an entrance pass to Williams first and IMO that's not his game. He's a slasher/scorer, not an assist guy. He'll go into 2019-20 with a more rounded offensive game.

It'd be great if Pons and Fulk can be any type of scoring threat away from the basket.

I wish that I knew anything at all about Burns. Can he pass? Can he run? Can he bang down low? Can he play defense? Does he have any touch from the FTL? Also wondering if Kent can defend.

Big question for me is can the defense improve? We might have enough returning that are capable scorer's even without the 4 high minute players that left. Also, instead of having 6 regulars and 4 uncertain contributors as the 2nd off of the bench, there might not be such a big drop off after the first 6 or 7. We might have more options going 10 or so deep instead of searching for somebody to step up when we had a couple if players in foul trouble. Actually those horrific whistles like last year may not be as devastating next year (unless James is carrying the team and he has to sit). I mean who this coming year doesn't have somebody right behind him to fill in without a huge drop off?

Sweet 16 would put CRB in the mix for another COY IMO.

Jumped 9 spots when ORN rose to 4 star status. I guess that justs means more people have evaluated him since Barnes pulled him in. Hoping he's another Diamond.
Not sure how his composite is 4*. What other services have him ranked, let alone as a 4?

I don't normally defend the composite rankings but it does make mathematical sense to have a higher composite than any of your individual rankings

I know it doesn't work exactly like this but this hopefully makes sense.

If a player is ranked 20th in all services their composite should seemingly be 20 but with every player like described below the ranking Improves by 1

player that is ranked 5 in one but 50 in the other 2. That seemingly makes their composite 35 (105/3)

So from a math standpoint a player that has a Better composite than actual rankings means players they jumped don't have consistency within their individual rankings

Hopefully that makes sense.

That’s the only scenario that makes sense, if I’m understanding what you’re saying...basically a guy ranked 100/150/NR equals a composite of what? 125? How do they calculate NR?

My issue is I highly doubt you can find that many consistencies to move ORN up about 40 spots over what his composite seemingly would be.

I don't think they use the actual numbers so much as position rankings within a formula.
All NR guys aren't equal I am nearly certain so knowing those rankings are key

Do you think rivals and ESPN are extending their rankings but only sharing that info with 247?

The formulas must be weighted in disproportionate amounts. Otherwise, our new commit'S ranking makes no sense mathematically.
