He had a long and awesome career here, but his limitations were really exposed in that Houston game. I'm ready to see a taller, more athletic option like Gillespie get a shot at the PG duties. I doubt that we would get Gillespie if ZZ returned.
His greatness was exposed in the 30 wins. I'll take my chances with the winningest player of all time running the show.

His 18-10 vs Kentucky in the prior game was why we were in the Elite 8. His defense is irreplaceable.

Sure, if he's mostly focusing on assists and handling the ball and not continuing to jack up 3's when he's ice cold or driving when there is a help defender cheating towards him all game. Houston scouted him really well.

Maybe his mindset would have been different if he had more complimentary scorers, but neither E8 game was great for him.

Bingo...you answered it in your last paragraph.

Zakai Zeigler can't be the primary threat going to the rim. That isn't a good scout by Houston. That's just common sense for a 5'-8 PG. ZZ is fantastic at waht he does great, which is facilitating the offense. If you make him be the offense, then we are in trouble. The problem wasn't him, the problem is what was (or wasn't) around him, which is enough versatile scorers taking the ball to the basket or shooting well from outside, and also a total lack of a post offense.

Well, to be fair, we weren’t going to be paired with Florida or Auburn. So, it was always Duke or Houston. And I stand by thinking we had a better chance to beat Houston than Duke. We simply did not play well against Houston. If we had played like we did against Auburn in the SEC Tournament, or Kentucky two days before, I think we would have won or at the very least made it a very close game.

But we played nervous, looked like the pressure of the moment got to us, and inexplicably had one of our worst shooting performances of the year. It was just a perfect storm that I think had more to do with us than Houston.

exactly. Duke would have absolutely boatraced us, and that's not a knock on us.

Another potential Barnes replacement is off the board. This coaching off-season has been insane. The mid-major ranks have basically been licked clean now.

Alan Huss about all that’s left, which coincidentally enough is a name I think would’ve been on our board. Hodgson should still be available at USF, the guy at UNC-Wilmington will be another up and comer name next year.

And yet we had posters calling for him to move to the bench and claiming he was a disappointment lol
There was a certain poster, let's call him Señor Chessboard. Said during a game where Lanier was struggling early that we shouldn't take transfers from non power 4 schools because they don't pan out.

Our fans lose every brain cell after a loss
They don't even wait for a loss anymore. We are way ahead of schedule with the "we won't make it to the second weekend" and "last 4 in" posts. Those are usually automatically scheduled for January. Now we get them when we don't land a top 10 portal transfer target.
