Dylan Crews had a huge weekend in Nashville as well; 7-14, 4 HR’s, 9 RBI, 4 walks.Have to imagine Ortega takes home Player of the Week. 3 doubles and 4 HRs barely edges out Gilbert’s 3 doubles and 3 HRs, though Gilbert was 8/13 for the week.
Sounds like an excellent trip! Great photos.I have had my share of fun baseball experiences over my lifetime; MLB World Series 2003, NCAA Super Regional 2021, too many Hoover trips to count and week-long spring training trips with my dad, but this weekend might top them all! The passion & love for baseball, especially Tennessee, that my son has is unrivaled. The weekend started in Oxford, MS to watch Ole Miss and Texas A&M. Why? Because why not; it’s baseball. It culminated in Starkville, MS to watch Tennessee and State. Along the way, we caught a foul ball in Oxford, ate lunch with the Tennessee pitching staff in Starkville, got autographs at batting practice (snubbed a couple of players), talked to Coach Vitello postgame, set front row with his favorite player’s parents and watched the #1 team in the nation go 3-0 on the weekend! Next stop, Hoover, AL. Why? Because there will be baseball there.
It was a blast. He’s been to Hoover, regular season games at LNS, the Regional last year, Spring training in FL last month but this one was just different. We were in the park for all 3 games, 1.5 hrs before and I worried it would be too much or bore him, but he ate up the BP and infield/outfield. We set right above our bullpen so I think the interactions he had with the players throughout the games made it more enjoyable. Everyone brags on their kid, but his knowledge of our roster constantly amazes me. I turned my back on Saturday and when I turned around he had another practice ball. I asked how he got that ball and he said “Logan gave it to me”. I asked “Steenstra”? He said “yes dad, #5 Logan Steenstra”. I forget about him half the time, so it boggles my mind that a 5 yr old knows a 2nd year reserve player by name and number lol.Sounds like an excellent trip! Great photos.

I’m not sure, but .345 and 20 bags will get him drafted. If it’s top 15 rounds, he gone too
