The Official #1 Tennessee @ South Carolina Series Thread (Fri. 3/28 7PM EDT SECNET+) (Sat. 3/29 4PM EDT SECNET+) (Sun. 3/30 12PM EDT SEC Network+)

Which is fine, but I don't blame Vitello for calling it out one bit. And its not a new thing for him either. "Vol or not" wasn't just some throw away line.
And that’s his right if he wants. These people exist on every team though down to little league. My kids play sports, if somebody says something outta line then call them out respectfully in the stands. It could change their tune.

The YouTube video includes a comment claiming to be the "fan" who CTV was referring to implying they were unconcerned about coaches opinion.

I see it in the basketball forums as well. Our fans saying some harsh things about how a player is playing. It’s something I just don’t get. It’s not like our players are making mistakes on purpose, but some fans now think because of NIL it’s open market to trash players with rude comments because they are getting some money. A Tennessee fan should be on top of the world right now because of the state of athletics at UT. We have it rolling in all sports. Baseball is performing at a top level, we’ve only lost 2 games this year but someone who’s never been around baseball doesn’t understand how hard that is. These players are not robots, they have feelings too. Just remember, when you make rude comments about our players, you’re downgrading someone’s son. In my book, those folks should stay home, they are not true fans and are not helping our players or our coaches. We just won a national championship, and sitting at 27-2 right now. Those folks don’t remember where we were 8-10 years ago. Go Vols! Beat A&M!

If we want the kumbaya that we all want, it’s gonna take the Vol family in the stands to change it. Like I mentioned above, if somebody is out of line at a game you can call them out on it in a respectful manner and many others should join in. They’re either gonna quit coming because their pride has been hurt or they’re gonna realize what a jackass they’ve been and apologize and act right. Tony’s postgame metaphors and a couple of people complaining about it on a message board aren’t gonna solve anything. Let’s hold our own Vol family accountable in a good way to change them for the better when we’re in attendance.

The interesting part is the ones on here, in the stands, and other social media sites do not consider themselves NegaVols. Their reply is I can have an opinion. The players, coaches, their parents or others involved with the program should not be listening or reading what fans have to say. That is not true. Especially college students are drawn to read what the fans are saying about them.
I've heard well they need to have tougher skin. My answer is they are fine with it when it is the other team's fans but not when it is their own supposed fans. That hurts when the people who are supposed to be for you are saying things against you. It would be like coming home and your parents telling you that you are a horrible kid. I don't see why people feel the need to trash players and coaches. I know some of you will again say I'm not trashing them but when you make despairing comments about them in person or social media you are trashing them. If you want to talk about them, then do it somewhere they cannot read or hear it. Find a friend and text them during the games if you are going to talk bad about the players and coaches.
In my experience these are insecure people trying to make themselves seem important. Dealt with it even on the HS level . Generally found that a combination of being an insecure loser and consuming too much alcohol leads to a lot of that crap. As a coach it didn't bother me when it was directed at me, but couldn't stand for it to be directed at kids. I'm sorry for you and other parents who have to listen to that crap. Proud of Coach V for calling it out.
