My 18 y/o son and I have been debating about this team all season so far. My opinion has been this team is much better than last years team. His opinion has been that this team hasn’t really played anyone yet and he didn’t think so. After the Florida game he said he was worried this would happen. So far tonight I think he maybe right.

It’s early in the season so I’m unsure which team is better. Our OOC schedule was difficult last year.

Knecht made his name known during UNC and was a beast thereafter. ZZ would give us a couple three balls each game along with a few floaters. Our post play was inconsistent throughout the yr while Santi and JJJ were MIA offensively most of the yr.

This yr Chaz has taken over until FL game. Our three ball game has been suspect w exception of Lanier. Okpara has shown flashes while Igor started off hot and then went into a slump (3 ball).

Right now I think we continue to struggle against teams with big men/physical play (FL, last year it was Purdue).

Hopefully Okpara and Cade improve and others later step up to give 8-10 a nt to help Chaz. We need more scorers beyond Chaz.

I’d love to see Mashack develop a mid-range jumper and ZZ improve three ball.

The problem is we have no consistent scoring options outside of Lanier.

ZZ, Gainey and Milicic have to score more because we're getting zilch from Akpara and Mashack on offense.

Depth is a concern too now that Estrealla and Carr are gone.

Okpara has been fine offensively of late. Am injured Mashack…different story

Shooting the ball well but holy cow we gotta cut down the turnovers. Would also like to see us push/get into our sets earlier. We’ve basically been setting up our offense at the 15 second mark every possession, really limiting our chances at a good look. Finish strong and grind out a road win.

I disagree. The dude is often able to get to the rack with his speed. He missed one tonight in respect, but he usually makes a couple when he decides to go in. He's an ok foul shooter, too if he picks up the foul. What we don't need is him shooting from deep or really any jumpers

TN shooting % is good just not getting enough shots due to TN TOs and lack of steals. If TX Gs stay hot, this will be a shootout to the last minute.

Barnes probably thought they put in a play for man, since that’s all we’ve played. Wanted to throw a different look at them to throw them off. Didn’t work.

He’s playing hurt, which is why is even less of threat on offense than normal. He’s not going to shoot a 3 even if there is no one in 20 feet of him.

Sadly TX knows this also.

Lack of depth will probably hurt UT. We are one injury away from being a very average team.

If we get good matchups . . . This team’s ceiling is probably like last year - elite 8. We are short a dominant big man for me to predict this as a final four team.

Having said that - we all know the NCAA tournament is a crap shoot.

DK could come off a screen and catch/shoot immediately. Lanier seems to shoot from a lower position and can’t catch/shoot as well. He doesn’t seem as active off the ball either.
