THE MATCHUP

• Tennessee is 5-4 all-time against Texas, including 4-2 over the last six matchups. This is the fourth straight season the sides have met—the last matchup before that was 11/24/07—and the first SEC affair ever between the two.
• Rick Barnes, the head coach at Texas for 17 years (1998-2015), is 4-3 in games between Texas and Tennessee. He went 2-2 with the Longhorns and is 2-1 with the Vols.
• Texas head coach Rodney Terry worked for Rick Barnes as an assistant from 2002-11, while assistant coach Frank Haith did so from 2001-04 and fellow assistant Chris Ogden did so from 2008- 16 (seven years at Texas, one at Tennessee). All three are among the 13 former Barnes assistants who have become head coaches.
• New SEC school Texas was picked seventh in the preseason poll after going 21-13 (9-9 B12) last year and losing to Tennessee in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32.
• Freshman guard Tre Johnson, the SEC's third-leading scorer behind Chaz Lanier and Johni Broome, paces Texas at 18.4 ppg.

This should be a bounce back game.

135.5 o/u. Under by a hair

I’ll take them Vols
69-65. I’m expecting the Cade before his hurt shoulder to bang, crash and grab rebounds(w a few putbacks) and a couple of others to find the broad side of the barn from deep tonight.

Auburn barely got out of Austin with a W. Auburn is ^ Tenn. Texas is hungry for a win, especially at home. Another tenuous situation for the Vols.

I love the ___ + ___ = ___ equations that fans constantly use despite endless examples that because a team plays Team A a certain way on a certain night, it follows that they will play Team B the same way on a different night.

Each game is its own entity, the same way as the UT we saw against Arky was day/night from the team in Florida. Thank God that the team doesn't endlessly dwell on any loss the way the fan base does.

Just in case, you all missed me, I'm back ! I just couldn't do the negativity, that I knew would happen after the Florida loss. I would have been banned forever. Plus, I wasn't just depressed, I was despondent, after the Gators game. But, I'm over it and I expect the Vols to beat Texas. In the immortal words of Al Davis and Malcolm X, "just win, baby, by any means, necessary"! I don't care how we do it, we have to get the "W", tonight. The team probably doesn't need this win as bad as I do. Win this one for The Dog ! Pretty please with cheese and bacon, on top

The over/under at 135 should tell everyone what Vegas is thinking, a rockfight, just like our game with them last year in the tournament. Someone besides Lanier has to step up and hit some shots tonight on the road. Hopefully, that will be ZZ or anyone else that is wide open. Points in the paint will be hard to accomplish with any consistency. Don’t think either team will put on an offensive clinic and the game will be hard to watch at times. Defense will travel for us, and Felix needs to stay out of foul trouble. It would be nice if Igor would drive looking to score instead of passing. Vols gotta grind this one out in a game in the 60s. The team that shoots the best from the free throw line will win this game. In Barnes we trust, Go Vols! Horns down!

I have not read anything, I haven't even listened to SportsTalk, just Rock 104, uh 103.5. But, if I know Rick, he is pissed and worked this team's a$$ off. We come ready to play and win, this game. It may be 68-67 (Vegas knows their sh!t), but the Vols are winning, today.

Wish this game was at home. Road games aren't a great recipe for a bounce back game. If we come out cold again, we're cooked.
I don't completely disagree with this, at all. But, if we don't come out focused, I think Rick gets a Tech within 5 minutes. They better come out ready to play, for their own sake, because practice will become complete hell, I guarantee it.

The under 12:00, 8:00, and 4:00 time outs are going to take up half of the remaining window. Plus 13:02. Plus the teams have 5x TOs. We’ll be lucky to be on ESPN by our under 12:00 media TO.
