The Official #1 Tennessee vs #19 Auburn Weekend Series Thread (Friday 7PM EST SEC NETWORK) (Saturday 7PM EST SEC NETWORK) (Sunday 1PM EST SEC NET+)

“We” as in me - I’m feeling good. Watched a really good baseball game. Saw areas where the Vols need to improve.

More importantly, this loss is good for the Vols. IMO Vols win tomorrow and take the series. Side note - Vols will lose a few more games.
No guarantee of a win tomorrow as their pitching is becoming weak ...imo the 2022 Vols pitchers will need to greatly reduce giving free passes to 1st base (walks will beat u everytime), learn how to bunt as a team to win close games, or they will not make it to Omaha this year...fundamental baseball folks!

Look, this is baseball. Losing happens. As great as our team has been, they are not invincible. To put things into perspective, we’ve lost a grand total of 4 games so far.

I said it coming into the weekend, Auburn is a veteran team and this was going to be a battle all weekend. The Tigers also compete until the final out. Both games were close games until we broke it open last night, and they came back and won it tonight.

I’m glad no one was ejected after that brouhaha after Auburn’s 3-run homer. Both teams were running high with emotions. Instead of losing composure, our guys need to use it as fuel.

It will be a battle tomorrow. We’ll see which team comes out on top. I’ve a feeling our guys will be more than ready. This is another learning experience for them.

I feel for Redmond, but he is a warrior, as evidenced by last Sunday’s game at Florida. He will be fine.

See you tomorrow!

One game isn’t a trend. Have you seen UT’s pitching stats compared to the rest of the NCAA?

Stay in here, will you? 😬

I will try. It seems that when I venture out, I break things. lol.

But isn’t this baseball team l just fun. It’s just awesome.

After several of the home runs last night I literally called a friend of mine and was just laughing.

Laughing at how fun this team is to watch and how good they are. It’s just FUN.

So much here to discuss.

Vols are running away with it - in the best league in the country. I would argue SEC baseball is tougher than football top to bottom.
Yep. And the resurgence of this program should give everyone hope that football can do this again someday. This program was in a much deeper hole than football ever was. I was about to give up on UT baseball for good after the “grand slam” hire Serrano couldn’t get it done.

The solace I’m finding here is how long of a season this is. We can still win the series and the move on to the next team. Not a big deal. Auburn is a very good team.

Tennessee is so far ahead its incredible. Usually, you want to win series but they could probably lose them and be fine.

Really the only focus now should be the World Series.

I agree 100%. Our pitchers were really effective early in the season for several reasons - not the least of which was infrequent walks. The last few weeks - as competition has improved greatly - starters and relievers have walked more batters.

I am positive this doesn’t sit well with Anderson at all. It’s no secret that if you don’t throw strikes you won’t pitch for Anderson for very long.

Pitchers needs to get back to throwing strikes. I will say I noticed today and yesterday just how much our pitching staff throws at the outer 1/3 of the plate. They are really trying to paint it - too much I think.

Or the 8th maybe. Hindsight is 20/20. Walsh looked good for an inning and he’s been consistent this year.
Hindsight is perfect vision, but I would have liked to have seen Joyce in 8th and have saved Walsh for 9th. Of course, using Walsh for multiple innings has worked like a champ many times previously. I want to see Joyce in a few high leverage innings before Hoover.
