He couldn't handle the heat and criticism he received after the Elite 8 game. So he went to a coach who would coddle him. It's evident he softened up. All his production is from quad 3 and quad 4 opponents. He isn't offering much against real competition.

Also, It was definitely his idea to leave from what I remember. I believe Barnes was blindsided by it.
